Shake when engine switch off

Featured Replies

As the title says, when I switch my engine off the car now shakes (only just started today)

The engine itself you can move quite a lot by hand and also revving it in stationary the engine has a hell of a lot of movement.

My guess is its some sort of mount/bush at fault but I am no mechanic! The car runs fine when driving get the odd kangaroo effect sometimes setting off in first (but generally put that down to me)

I have searched this and it does throw up what my first thoughts were and are of it being mount/bush related, but I'm taking it to the dealer where I purchased it from, any advice on what to tell them or what to say (I don't want to be fobbed off)

Anti shudder valve if it's a BLT?

Anti shudder valve if it's a BLT?

ASZ

have you changed the dogbone mount .... you can get a bush kit from powerflex (awesomeal on here will give you a good price) or you could get a genuine one ( which are pretty poor)

also if it is an asz with an egr delete .... that removes the anti shudder valve ... not sure on its effect though

Would a knackered dual mass affect this?

Try with clutch in/out and see?

All is standard

Also was thinking of just getting the kit but part of me thinks if its not that then I need to spend on something else =

It's booked in anyway

Mine was like this and thought the DMF was on its way out, replaced the dogbone mount for a powerflex item, problem solved, no engine movement or anything now it's much better.

Is that what your talking about?

My engine rocks a fair bit when starting/turning off so I think I might have to invest in one of these. I just don't want to regret it if it causes vibration through the cabin at idle.

Awesome gti gave me an 'awesome' price that I can't refuse put it that way :)

You won't regret it, if I'm right in saying it should last longer than original

No vibrations

Well managed to fit it today :) so far engine is smoother when starting/turning off. there is a tiny bit more vibration on idle but it really is minor.

Can't wait to feel the difference when driving spiritedly.
