Citigo Best Car

Featured Replies

This weeks Autoexpress has a survey on the best cars in each group.

The Citigo has won best city car.  Its a pity you can not get the Sport as an automatic,as that would be perfect for me.I like the look of the sport with the black wheels etc,but i do not want a manual. I hope the UP GT will be available as an automatic when it comes out.

The best hot hatch is the Ford Fiesta ST. Top Gear on the TV also raved about it on Sunday as they drove it sideways screaming round the track as they drive all their cars. Just as we all drive in the rush hour of course!!

Don't expect the Up! GT as an auto.

It's supposed to be a 6 speed manual and I doubt there is a light enough auto box in the VW empire that would be cheap/light enough.

Just buy an Elegance auto and add the black wheels and stripes.

i would also read the write up's about the ASG gearbox

basically an "automated" manual box with single clutch, not the DSG box fitted in all other models

conclusion from many is ok but gear change is slow, do not expect to zip through gears

that said capable but not the smoothest box

Yes Boss Fox that would be a good idea. Not sure how much extra that would cost though,or what it would do to the insurance.

Bluecar1  My Smart has the same type of auto box,and all the motoring press journos say it is rubbish, but i think it is perfectly ok.

I am sure they all drive with their foot to the floor at max revs, and then can not understand why the gears slam in with a jerk. However if you drive calm and relaxed i find the auto gear change on the Smart smooth as silk.

They do say the auto box is better on the diesel which i have, but i did have a petrol Smart a few years ago,and i found that just as good,so i am sure i would be perfectly happy with the Citigo Auto. Fact is, in the Manchester stop start traffic i would not have a manual in any car.Its auto every time for me.

Didn't make any difference, wheels were already alloys.  Just changed to black.  Plus some stickers.

I have a sticker in the back of my Oct 12 Citigo that says the same thing for last year!

Thats good to know.I thought with "Go Faster Stripes" as they used to be called,it could put up the insurance.

On the subject of  an Auto box in the UP GT.I am sure there was a pic some time ago, perhaps on the UP Forum showing inside the UP GT which did have an auto box. Then again i could have imagined it.

As far as I know "go faster stripes" are STILL what they're called lol.

Plus everyone knows they add at least 100bhp to any car!

It also depends who fits them. I got air bubbles under mine and I only got 60bhp.............. :@
