PDC controller - where to get a replacement or can it be fixed?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 55 plate Octavia II 2.0 diesel Elegance hatch which has just lost the rear parking sensor feature after a couple of weeks of it making more and more dire noises...  Thanks to http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/247433-reverse-pdc/ I found the PDC controller and discovered that there was corrosion on the pins of the 2 connectors.  Worse than that, one pin from the CAN connector has snapped off in the socket attached to the loom.

The rear sensors themselves are still making the expected clicking noise, so I'm pretty confident that they are ok.  So, is there anywhere that sells the PDC module for a reasonable price?  Has anyone opened the module up and tested it?  It may be that it is just the connector pin that has snapped off and the module is otherwise ok.

Secondly, how do I remove the coloured shell from the connector on the cable?  This should give me a better chance of removing the piece of pin stuck in one of the sockets.

I realise there is a risk that the corrosion is bad within the socket itself, but I don't want to cut it off and hardwire the module to it, or replace the connector unless I really have to.

Another thought - does anyone have the pinout for the connector so I can work out which pin is broken - it may be something that can be taken from elsewhere.

thanks,

Darren.

Have you checked eBay? When the CCU in my Toledo died I took it out, searched the part number on eBay and brought one for £90 second hand. Dealer wanted £1500 fitted (quoted 3 hours for removal and fit - me 0.5hrs from beginning to end!)

Try www.carsystems.pl

+1 for carsystems.pl or Skodateile.cz or eBay.

Both reliable and cheap(er than the dealer).

I am looking to get a replacement 1Z0 919 283 B    unit too, as mine has a water damaged board. If I source a replacement, is it just a straight swap and it works again, or does it need to be programmed/recognised via the canbus - the reason I ask, is because I dont have a Vagcom.

Thanks

Here in Slovakia is not big problem to find this parts... If you cant find anything , give me an info

should not need coding unless someone has set something specific. if not VCDS map is your friend!

Grab one from ebay, normally pretty cheap!
