Columbus maps

Featured Replies

Think these are for the new Octavia, I've downloaded them but the version format is different, as is the folder format.

Not had chance to have a closer look - in total its 17.9 Gb and seems to be Europe split into several maps

Agree - after my initial excitement, I downloaded the installation instructions (link just underneath Part 1-17). The sequence and screen shots are completely different to the Columbus in the pre-FL Superb. For starters, there is no update option in the setup section.

I have just emailed Navteq so:

Good morning,
I currently own a Skoda Columbus Sat Nav unit and i notice that you are providing maps through your site for the newer version of the Columbus system.  Do Navteq have any intention of releasing maps to support the older Columbus units to enable myself and many others to update our maps without going through main dealers.  Main dealers cahrge a lot of money for an update on the older version of Columbus and Navteq offer the newer version of maps for free...this seems unfair.  Navteq would gain a committed legion of fans in the VW/Audi/Skoda communities if these older machines were supported by yourselves.

Kind regards

Gary

Have you seen how much they charge for an update say on VX? Check this out: http://www.navigation.com/Opel-Insignia_2013/NAVI-900-Europe-2013-2014/opel-vauxhall/product/T1000-21048/en_GB/EUR/;pgid=miJ2wXE.6xBSR0wytfFxhf5M0000-3TBBwag;sid=AzLNXDE6dGXNXGDhLaiHVDswVJxH4maUiYya8ruE

Bleedin robbery innit, I'm more tiffed about no speed cam poi's tbh though,

VX apparently will answer your call for SC poi's with.......you shouldn't be speeding and if you aren't you don't need SC poi's

And I would agree with them.

And I would agree with them.

To a degree,

But as I'm a pro driver and go places I've not been before it's handy to get a reminder that there is a metal copper up the road incase I'm on a 30mph that appears to be a 40mph road or changed to 30mph a mile back without warning, that's why I also like the speed limit function in a sat nav showing you the correct limit live.

To be honest, I think the first part of your post are just excuses for breaking the law. The fact that you're a `pro driver` is irrelevant as we all go to places we've not been before. I must agree with you about the speed limit function on the sat nav...I have the maps showing most of the time for that very reason...its very useful. (I don't remember seeing it on my original maps so its maybe an added feature of the v9)
