Lowering the vrs tomorrow

Featured Replies

Gonna have a crack at fitting my eibach lowering springs to my vrs,is this a fairly straight forward job or a bit of a pain ..??

Cheers

the rears are a piece of cake.

jack up the car, undo the bolt holding the lower arm/spring holder and let it drop until the spring isnt under tension and simply dropps out. Replace with new spring

The fronts need the hub to be removed off the bottom of the shock. Much more hassle, need a ramp idealy. Took my mate about 45m-1hr per side on the front at his garage. Both rears were done in 20m-30m max

Ta mate, doin mine on a gravely drive and got a cv boot to do also :(

so you need to remove the hub anyway lol

On a gravel drive.....sounds like a mission. Even in a garage we had to get the hammer out. I'd suggest getting the fronts done first as the rears are simple

Yep will do ta:)

Dont forget you will need spring compressors for the fronts, saw your car the other day at the tesco's,i went in for some stuff & as i left i walked towards your car thinking it was mine! lol,i was parked near the pharmacist! thankfully nobody saw me as i turned around & went the other way!  :whew:

Cheers Ryan :)

You should be ok,as said rears are easy, fronts ok,you will need to remove the wipers & scuttle trim to get to the top mount bolts, you may find the anti roll bar link nuts are a bit rusty to remove,cv boot easy enough, just make sure you have a socket to remove the hub nut.

What size is the nut Mikey??

Oh & good luck working in this heat.......the heat today has killed me.........

  • Author

Prefer the heat to being cold

What size is the nut Mikey??

Not 100% sure, its not a normal nut,its actually a 6 or 12 sided hexagon headed bolt, weird looking thing. A normal non impact type socket may fit

Oooh hope it aint over 30mm or i am goosed lol

Nah its not that big,you will see when you get the wheel off.

What size is the nut Mikey??

either depend which type of bolts you have

Axle bolt: 27mm hex head: 200NM+180 degrees

Axle bolt: 24mm triple square: 70NM+90 degrees
