Yearly day of dread

Featured Replies

Well it's that time of year again, MOT time tomorrow, doesn't seem to matter how good the car is, I just hate it, sitting around waiting for the phone call

I think it is getting stricter every year, the damn emissions is very unforgiving as I found out with the lupo, currently in for new rings and valve guides, £800 later we should pass!

Anyway, enough negativity, I hope your car sails through the MOT

Yep, be thankful we don't have the German test.

Japan's is strict as well, which is one reason we see so many Japanese vehicles over here.  They fail and it cheaper to sell to company which then exports them overseas.

Good luck for tomorrow!

Just got my jalopy (Renault Scenic) through on Thursday, only failed on a leaking Servo pipe which cost me a fiver from local scrappy :o Quite painless for a change.

Japan you need a shaken i think its called!

Cost £1200 :o

Stuff that

I'll have to ask my cousin what happens. He's in Japan and has a Mazda Axela or as we know it a Mazda 3

Furby had it's MOT recently, went straight through with 1 advisory on the front drop link bushes. That's one which will be done in a couple of weeks and goodbye to all the knocks and creaks when going over bumps :p

Well........? Pass.....? :)

VED day is worser.

Guaranteed a big hit whatever state the car is in.

She passed   two advisories both for inner track rod ends, both to be sorted in the next couple of weeks, very proud of the old girl.

My 8 year old poverty spec Mondeo has never once had a problem, not even advisories on anything except consumables like tyres.

Congrats :) Another year until the stress begins again lol

I find the stress rises gradually after the 8 month mark has passed!!  I need rear drop links for my Mondy before the September deadline. I can almost hear the tune from 'Countdown' playing.......

Yeah thats about right for me too, and im a Mechanic lol. I tend to start bricking it when its MY car being scrutinised!

Im guessing its a Mk3 Mondeo? Have you had the rear subframe mounts fail yet? Now they are fun to do :swear:

Aye it's a mark 3. It's a 2005 face lift model so I am reliably informed that they did a modified version of the rear bushes which are a bit more durable.  I frightened myself to death the other week when I heard a load of clanking in the boot when going over a bit of rough ground. Turns out my wheel brace was bouncing around in the wheel well!! :giggle:

Needed a new wiper blade, which the garage just did for me, and no advisories!
