Sensible things to do at same time as subframe down?

Featured Replies

4X4 Octavia Combi 1.8T 2002

Front and rear H&R ARB set going on next week and I understand the front subframe has to come down so looking for suggestions for things to do at the same time.

I also have a set of polybushes for the car so was going for doing the wishbones, dogbone and I think there is a steering rack bush also. Not going for cast wishbones as I am not lowering the car but I have just seen about the quick rack from a TT so that is a possibility.

I have new droplinks and balljoints. The quickrack maybe means new trackrod ends sensible.

Seen somewhere the TT subframe bushes mod and have the parts numbers which look to be Audi dealer part.

I have the parts for the front 312 brakes upgrade.

As usual things rapidly spiraling.

Aiming to have the car at stage 2  keeping standard ride height if possible by the end of the year.

I have the Haldex Performance controller to go on which tipped the decision to going ahead.

If there is any wear parts that are sensible to do or other things  that would be considerably easier with the subframe down for example exhaust downpipe that you can think of to make use of the time on the ramp please suggest it.

Car is now on 61K and should have the oil  pick up pipe done and its 4 years since last cambelt though low mileage from that time.

The TT steering rack can't be used on ESP equipped Octavias'.

The ABS system is not compatible - the MSR + ASR system start activating due to conflicting sensor input from steering column and steering rack, which results in sharp juddering on cornering.

The ABS warning lamp on the dash will be lit, which is an MOT fail in itself.

The ESP system can be coded off via VAGCOM, but I suspect this still breaches current MOT regs (?) - but would be virtually impossible to detect at an MOT

You seem to have everything else covered.
