100k Update on Elegence 2.0 TDI

Featured Replies

Im really pleased with my 2005 Elegence, just hot 100k having covered 55k in just over 2 years.

As Ive just fixed the Air con, I thought that as she has been reliable I may spend a little money on her with the ain to make her as fresh looking as possible. this is as I use her for work (financial services) and my friend and family drive much more flash cars. So her is the list of things to do:

1. Update suspension and possibly bushes

2. Refit engine under tray

3. Fix rear Wash Wipe

4. Replace all door rubber/seals they are slightly worn

5. Toch up paint work

6. Referb Wheels

7. Get a detailer to get a nice shine

Now is it worth me doing this?

1. Update suspension and possibly bushes - New shocks as they're probabily a bit tired now.

2. Refit engine under tray - Easy job, Torx bits.

3. Fix rear Wash Wipe - Again easy enough, I've seen a guide on here somewhere....

4. Replace all door rubber/seals they are slightly worn - Do they leak? costly from a dealer, maybe look for a scrapped newer donar car.

5. Toch up paint work - Costly to respray but if your front end is as bad as mine then i'd be looking at bonnet, wings and bumper.

6. Referb Wheels - DIY job car be hard to get perfect, £40 - £50 per wheel for a pro job. or just replace the wheels?

7. Get a detailer to get a nice shine - DIY for sure, borrow a DA and a gentle polish and get stuck in!

At 110k it's worth fitting new shocks and springs as well as bushes and top mount bushes/bearings.

A B12 kit was very good and works nicely.

Also worth vaxing the seats and carpets and getting all the leather items properly cleaned.
