Wanting a Vrs any advise or tips.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Currently driving a 1.2 VW Polo 9n so basically wanting abit more poke and mpg. Basically the fabia vrs seems to fit the bill apart from only been in 5 doors.

I was thinking about spending between 5-6 grand on one with as low mileage as possible around 40k if thats possible and looks like they last awhile with them and mk4 golfs lasting well over 100k. i like the blue limited edition ones but i think they are abit out of my price range.

Also wanting a fabia as i believe they r the same floorpan as my 9n so my coilovers, wheels and home made sound system would all fit.

Just wondering if theres anything to look out for i.e a specific noise, rattle, power problems.

Also is there any extras I should be looking for as I believe they all come with air con and electric windows.

Thanks and any advise is much appriciated.

P.S heres a picture of my polo, shes getting old now.

Having been in a similar situation as you ( I owned a 1 litre Seat Arosa and god it was slow and didn't even get the same mpgs as diesels) you should get one ! I spent 3400 on mines which was as 90k with a full service history and receipts. I think you might struggle to get one with as low a mileage was 40k (but I'm probably wrong).

Yeah a lot I have seen are between 90k and 110k but if they are still bullet proof then it wont be a problem, just the big numbers scare me.

The ones I have seen though on ebay and auto trader there are some really nice ones for the millage looks like they have been really looked after as I was wanting to buy private rather than a dealer to try and get a bit better deal.

Also was the 1.0 Arosa 3 cylinder cos mine it lol, revs to 5,500 LOL, sounds quite meaty though just doesn't move.

Welcome to the forums mate - hope you take the plunge and if so welcome to Skoda ownership!

I've seen two 2006 ones up in the North East at the weekend that were 56k and 61k miles respectively. Not bad condition both of them, but the odd noise and rattle here and there, not too surprising for a 7 year old car.

Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI PD 130 vRS 5dr EXCELLENT SERVICE HISTORY 2006

Might be a fair distance for you to travel but if you look on Autotrader or other places you'll probably find some closer to you.

Both look pretty decent like do you know of any problem to lookout for? Also was goin to get a full custom stainless exhaust by my dads mate business "Custom pipes" in doncaster aswell as an induction kit to start with. Then maybe a remap and upgraded turbo, intercooler, injectors but I'll look on the forum for what people recormmend.

remap and RARB are a must especially with the under-steer. with the induction kit there are quite a few horror stories of people fitting them and the tubby blades wearing away. if you go for an induction kit try to get an Apexi filter as they are the dogs knackers. Plus the clutch will have to be uprated if you want 200+bhp. welcome to the fold by the way :D

They make a polo and ibiza which are both pd130 and are 2 door. I would go for the Polo as they're rarer.

Failing that a PD160 Ibiza :) has FMIC, ap brakes and a bigger turbo as standard.

I know of one with all that stuff at a reasonable price ;)

Yeah the 9n3 looks good especially with the blue motions front splitter and the grill painted black to look like the GTI. Im nt bothered about the Seat though but since they are all the same I guess it just depends which one is cheapest for a simular age and mileage.

I got mine in february there. Paid 4 grand for it. It had only done 37.500 miles. Shop about. Something will pop up. Took me 5 month to find it.

Mick.

get an SE or a Polo GT TDI with more miles. they can handle the miles, 100,000 is what you would expect from a diesel around 7+ years old

Keep an eye on Skoda UK used cars. There are some good ones on there, and some are reasonably priced You also get Approved Car benefits depending on mileage and age.

I have just picked one up for my wife in this way. Good luck.
