Fantastic Dealer Experience

Featured Replies

Just picked up my new  Octy III 1.6CR DSG Elegance from DM Keith in Leeds this afternoon and I am loving the car after weeks of anticipation. It genuinely looks like a slick and sleek machine, to my mind.

I just want to say how impressed I am with the dealer. Not only did the salesman, Gareth, give me exactly the approach I wanted - no BS or add on nonsense and just straight honest answers - he also pointed me to this forum when I was asking complex questions about the car, which I thought was a good and honest approach.

On top of this, when the car was delayed by three weeks, the dealer lent me a car - actually the salesman's 'own' Octy II - until mine arrived.

Picked up the car today, perfectly valeted good and detailed handover, and they even parked it in the shade for me so I wouldn't arrive to a boiling oven. Oh, and sorted out the nets for me when I asked :-)

Just hoping the car is as good as the dealer, and that their after sales is as good as their pre-sales.

Thanks for running a great forum all - I'm hoping I can participate positively and helpfully now that I have my new toy.

Good to hear Plectrumman - my experience of Skoda so far is very positive. I purchased my Octy 2 from Heritage in Yeovil, and found their presales and aftersales to be excellent. I've just ordered my Octy 3 from Blade in Twigworth, presales again excellent but will have to wait a while before I can comment on aftersales! What colour did you go for? It'd be good to see some pictures!

Maybe I will buy the next car from UK even if the wheel drive is on the right side

thats good to hear  as this is where I've ordered mine from   same sales man too   he rings me every week with updates and as im swapping my reg plate told me how to do it quicker than if they did it

I believe he will start beeing contacted by all future skoda buyers who visited briskoda

It's a small world Ed!  But not populated by small Skoda salesman. Have you gone for an Octy III? I'm loving mine. One day in and 425 miles done, same trip to do again tomorrow :-)

PompeyVRS, I'll get some pictures up at the weekend. 5am starts today and tomorrow so no time to breathe (only had time to post on here last night as I couldn't sleep because of the heat!) I've gone for Brilliant SIlver, but that was by availability rather than choice. I'm actually quite pleased with it, as with the silver and the shape, it looks like a bit of an Exec mobile. That and 60MPG on day one has put me in a good mood!

Strange.. I ordered my Octy 3 from the Blade Twigworth.I had nothing but problems (Big Story) with this dealer. In the end i had to complain to there MD. I would never ever order another car from this dealer. I would have made at least 20-30 phone calls to be told that they are busy and will call me back, but never do. At the end i got so fed up i had to make a formal complain.

There after sales is good, i used them for my Octy II. I order my Octy II from the same dealership (Used to be Robert Bramford) but sold to Blade and since then i think Customer service (Especially Sales) just gone downhill. My friend had to take his business to Startin Skoda in Worcester because he was not impressed by the service from sales person at Blade in Twigworth.

Perhaps they've got their act together now then dellfan - although I only ordered last Thursday! I know they recruited a new "Business Manager" recently, quite an enthusiastic young chap who comes across very well. As I say, so far so good; but there's still plenty of time for them to mess up I guess. Fingers crossed they don't!

When did you order Ed? I too am having towbar fitted and swapping my number plate over! Did they advise you to put your private plate on retention once they had a delivery date?

Put it on retention as soon as possible. I had to wait to weeks, and then it got complicated (old car not being part ex, new car etc).

Once it is on retention you don't have to take the plates straight off.

Thanks, I'll do that. Slightly different situation for me though as the plate is coming off the car I'm PXing

Even more important as if the plate is not off, you can't give them the px, and you don't want to wait any longer than you have to!!!

just to add to the problems you can no longer go in to the local dvla office with your documents to swap plates over now its all done by post.

I sent my retention off Tuesday  after i spoke to dvla in Swansea  they said ought to be only 2 weeks before i get my stuff back

ordered  beginning of June  told me last week it would be quicker for me to sort out the plate at the moment .  they did say that they would sort it out (*and still could ) but If i did it it would be faster privately than through the dealer

Similar advice to me Ed, although they said I should wait till they have a confirmed build date (I only ordered last week)

Going by my experience PompeyVRS, i would rather call Skoda UK to find out status of your order. According to Skoda UK my car was delivered to Grimsby on 08th July 2013. I was promised a phone call by them when the vehicle lands in UK, i am still waiting for that phone call.

This is just getting ridiculous  :wall:  . Nil Customer Service.

Just been informed by the stealers that Provisional Build Date is week 37! Sending off the paperwork to put my plate on retention right now.

good, bad and bad news

the good just been informed that the dealer could have my car ready for me by the 23 July

the bad is I'm away from the 22nd   not back till 4th august

and Bad dealer says Skoda  fine them if the car is not with the customer within 10 days?  this is even so if customer is not available to collect.

don't want to be making an additional  700 mile round trip to collect my car   and losing a day or two of my hard earned break.

Surely that's all good news then? The fact they get fined means they have an incentive to get the car to you ASAP! Knowing what the dealers are like 23rd is probably being conservative anyway. Do you know when they are likely to receive it? Its probably more likely that any hold up now will be caused by the DVLA!

I think you will find that as long as you sign the paperwork before you go on holiday that you will be fine. You don't have to actually take delivery of the car within the 10 day deadline.

How will that affect the part x ? Insurance ect ?

But it was more the fact that Skoda FINES  the dealer !  so for example the car can not be released until the 24 i will then be in the south of England aromatically 350 miles from dealer. the original quoted time for delivery  early mid August  so if its 2-3 weeks early  and I have to ether drive  back home to collect the car then drive back down, lose a couple of days of my holiday or risk the dealer (who so far have been superb ) getting a fine !

I wouldn't be worried about the dealer being fined, no matter how good they are. Surely you wouldn't make that ridiculously like no journey (plus the expense and inconvenience) for the dealers benefit? I sure as hell wouldn't! (Unless they were offering some forms of compensation of course ;-) )

True

might ring Skoda uk  on Monday

starting to get un happy

dealer  at Leeds saying my car would be ready for me about the 27th   slap bang in middle of my hols.

Spending some time in derby with friends then on to Windsor.  They want me to drive 90 miles back home to then collect then drive back down past where i came from to windsor another 130 miles aprox  total of well over 300, and  5 hr 30 mins  driving. so they can keep to the delivery turn around times

when the date i was provisionally given was 15 August to be with dealer

want the car but planed some things around the expected date and now the dealer trying to make out its my fault i cant get it
