2008 Octavia L&K Estate (KW08 UBC)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Seen this car for sale at Devon Motor Company, at what appears to be a fairly reasonable price (£5,899) compared to many other Octavias out there, albeit it does have a fairly high mileage (95k).

Unfortunately I live about 4.5 hours away from where this car is, which means it's not easy to go down there and look at it! Does anyone know of this car? I've emailed them to see if they can provide more information, but it's obviously not the same as looking at it myself.

Thanks for any help.

Peter

Not familiar with the car but I bought similar with similar mileage last April for 8k and although it had Columbus, three month Skoda warranty and front sensors, this car seems a good price against mine.

Mine has been excellent if a little less economical than hoped and don't let the mileage put you off too much. However, I saw a few which looked good in the pictures where the interior was dog rough so unless someone comes forward to vouch for it, I would strongly urge you check the history, view and test drive it. A lot of the ones I saw where ex company or similar and I think the L&K estate is quite a favourite of such purchases.

Cheers for your reply Adam.

You're right - I wouldn't want to buy without viewing it first. There could be a reason for the seemingly low price, or it could just be a bargain! Ex-company cars can be abused, but also they can be a decent buy if it's primarily one driver doing mostly motorway miles and it's serviced properly. Of course, usually estates are purchased for a reason though...

I bought my current 2005 Octavia 2.0 TDi Estate 16 months ago with 106k, and have done 30k since then already, so mileage isn't a major issue for me if it's been serviced properly. I too have been happy with mine, getting approx average of about 54mpg, and is great for long journeys, which I obviously do regularly. Particularly good are the optional leather seats I've got in mine, which is why I'm keeping an eye out for a decent L&K, as I'm not sure I'd want to change to the smaller, non-heated standard ones in the Elegance!

Quick question to you Adam if you don't mind - how do you find the lower profile 17" wheels for ride comfort? The Octavia has a fairly stiff ride anyway, so does the reduction in tyre profile make it noticeably less comfortable?

Thanks

Peter

Mine is actually one like you describe. Been a motorway muncher driven by one seemingly careful 'owner' so there are bargains to be had. When I first had it the more bumpy 17inch ride bothered me a little but only on poorly maintained local roads. On the motorway, it is not noticeable in my opinion.

The leather l and k seats are lovely and the huge variety of positions they take coupled with the mirror memory allow for ultimate flexibility and a comfortable ride once you find your position. The heated leather in winter is fab too especially if your back wakes up a little stiff!!
