Quick Question

Featured Replies

Hi

I wonder if this possible and If anyone can help me out with the coding.

Instrument cluster lights on when ignition on, not just when side/dip lights on.

Also,

tail lights on with DRLs and front fog lamps activated with high beam.

These are 3 of the many tweaks I would like to do, all the others I have found codings for, I've never heard of these 3 being done...perhaps someone could help or confirm they aren't possible.

Thanks :)

Jon

The first one is not possible - there was a thread about it earlier this month.

The other two, I don't know but there are options for combinations / behaviours of fog lights.

This one has been asked many times over. No-one has found how to do it so far. :(

Shame as this would be a great help on those dark nights.

The problem with this subject is the "know-better-than-thee" people turn up and start bleating on about how fog-lights will dazzle everyone coming towards you, without realising that that's what the main-beam would be doing anyway. (And if your fogs are dazzling people coming the other way, then they need to be setup correctly) There's a complete lack of understanding about the question and then it turns into a heated debate about when/why/how fogs should be used, and we end up so far off-topic it's unreal.

There is an option to turn them off with the main-beam, which always struck me as a bit odd. A little digging around and I found that our 'Merican cousins only like 4 lights on in total on the front of a car. So if you had dips and fogs on, when you hit the mains, you'd comply with whatever law it was. Seems stupid really, as surely the more light the better.

The misunderstanding is the term 'Fog' & 'Fog Lights' that continues to go on for ever it seems with some members on here.

They are not Long Range lights or lenses designed to light the road a distance ahead to show Deer on Roads on very dark public highways.

They are for use in 'Fog',

maybe even in poor Visibility like possibly snow, where they may work without dazzlling the Driver themself like headlights on full beam would, and that is helpful to those trying to see and be seen.

Being the UK, and not some out in the wilds country of Extreme Darkness & Pea Soupers.

Maybe the Use of 'Additional Lighting'  formally known as Spot Lights & Driving Lights might be more suitable for the dark and unlit country roads, maybe without road marking etc..

(The North of Scotland is not much different from other country areas,

the police understand the need to light up the road and see wildlife etc, after all they drive the same roads daily and nightly,

using proper lights though, not Fog Lights to act as Spot or Driving or Long range Lights)

The Advice on 'Fog Lights' and there usage is really not that difficult to understand.

The use of Full Beam and Additional lighting to light up your path is pretty open to interpretation and allows the opportunity to fit good lighting,

or switch it on when required.

Thank you for your usual level of "understanding the question" George. You make the perfect example of how to completely mis-understand what is being asked, again.

I rest my case.

I understand the OP & the OP needs and the answers to the question already given.

Helped in understanding, by reading his previous posts on upgrading his lights/bulbs and the reason for needing to.

It is your post i responded to.

OK since the questions has been answered, I’m locking this before it gets out of hand.
