McBunnywabbit, you are putting the key in the lock and keeping it held aren't you? If so, when you go for the next service, ask the dealer to turn it on for you, unless you know someone local with vagcom, assuming its on there?

Auto Window sounds like a good idea, but don't like the idea of taking the door card off & messing with the electrics!!! :(
