Cursed doors on my estate

Featured Replies

Didn't post this straight away as its too painful!

Day 3 in my estate, either I didn't shut it properly, or 6 year old son opened it. No I didn't have child locks on, no I don't know how I didn't see the maxidot display. Bang, right in a tricky area for a repair, to cut a long painful incident short, it needs a new door. Its only metal and plastic, no one else involved, no one got hurt - but it didn't stop me sulking for a day.

Insurers say take it to VW dealer, where fair play to their body shop guy, he points out - 'Have you seen the manufacturing fault in the front door?' There's a line about an inch in from the trailing vertical edge (where it shuts), guess its where the skin is fixed to the frame behind.

Then Skoda, send it to a Seat dealer with body shop. Now waiting for Skoda to approve the warranty fix front door and Insurer to approve the bashed rear door. Guess they only need to send it to Audi next!

So have a look at your front doors... and don't mention my rear door or I'm likely to sulk again.

Really sorry to hear this.

It does make me feel a tad better as I got a huge stone chip in mine after a few days, and sulked for a couple of days.

Apparently, Hortons in Lincoln are good at repairing Octy III doors, a little out of your area, but Stokey has already had his drivers door resprayed with success!

Thanks Matt, put my doors in the hands of another, it'll be 2 new doors, but they'll have to spray / blend them well.

I'm a bit particular about cleaning/ polishing waxing my cars and colour difference on a new car would really upset me!

I **** my wife off cleaning my car when apparently there are 'other things that really need doing'. I also park at the far side of car parks away from opening doors - how ironic; and probably park too far from the kerb / tense up when my wife drives cause I live in fear of a kerbed alloy.

I can't believe this has happened!

Were we separated at birth, you sound just like moi! I used to live in Hudds, too, briefly in he mid 90s.

Any pics of the damage? U didn't really explain what happened apart from bang?
