Fun Air Con

Featured Replies

Has anyone successfully fitted air con to a Felicia Fun? Is it even technically possible?

I want to take my fun through europe to Germany this year and air con would be nice...

Its possible, but what other cars can you open the back up on? All the A/C you would ever need :)

Buy some goggles and take the windscreen out...........

Your best bet would be to find a scrappy 1.6 SLXi with aircon and transfer all the bits over you need.

It's a pretty big job and would need the whole heater matrix swapping over as well as the alternator mount, heater controls, radiator and cowling, all the wiring and pipe work etc etc.

I have done this to my felicia as I got hold off a slxi and had air con you need to change loads over you will need a slxi but only some have air con.... you will need to cut hole in bulkhead to fit heater box I have pics on this too you need to change engine loom over as air con is wired in to this I did hole conversion even power sterring in a week evenings don't for get the dashs are diffrent tooo... mite be striping my car soon and will sell air con as a kit to fit to a 1.6 only....

I assume the ECU needed to be changed over as when the A/C is on it needs to tell the car not to stall.

Take everything out from under the bonnet on one and put it in the other. ;)

My ecu came from donner so hadh to swap my other engine from pickup has same ecu part number they are pre pind for air con just the engine loom has the air con wires and extra fuse/relay box air con and fan.

Parts needed for air con ar

You need to remove engine gear box for access for fitting air con

You need to cut hole for recirculation vent engine out and sub frame

Belly pan from air con modal as pas pump sits lower

Hole dash air channels and extra flap in it

Air con heater box recirculation vent goes throw bulkhead

Trim for heater switchs

Air con pipes h/l pain to get out and fit

Air con pump

Pas/aut/air con pump bracket

Pas pipes as these are run diffrent

Diesel rad and fan

Air con rad

Air con and fan and engine loom with fuse and relay box goes on stut

Air con service as you will need it checked for leaks and will need oil

Nice and cool felicia....

Hope this is some help to you....

I still have the bulkhead templates from donnor cars bulkhead..

Engine revs rise as air con switch presed clutch on pump kicks In electric fan goes air con turns off when your giving the car some lead foot

I'd have to agree with this. You'll also never be able to use the a/c on full with the cab closed for long either. It's the same with the heater: designed to heat a car quickly. The pickup is only half a car with the same matrix. It's a bloody hot in there in a couple of minutes. A/C on full would turn it into an ice-box!

And not to mention to cost off petrol too hit the air con and watch fuel gauge drop lol windows open are better

Agreed, not an option I'd ever contemplate. When weather allows windows down or back open, not as effective but a lot simpler/cheaper!! ;)

Used my air con today and found I had to turn it off after 7mins it was like a fridge. .......

I going to be doing this to my newly required fun so it will probably be the only fun with air con

Here's for a long Indian summer then! :smirk:

I always wished my Felicia L&K had A/C.

I personally wouldn't want any car now without A/C.

I'd say if you are skilled enough and have the bits to hand from a donor car then go for it.

If you had to get it done by a garage then the cost would probably be too prohibitive.

My fun mite be going under the knife to have air con not quite decided...
