Uneven brake pad and disc wear

Featured Replies

Anybody had experience of this? I had a brake squeel so took my passenger side brakes apart to inspect pads and discs to find on the inside side of the disc and pad very uneven wear. It's strange because the wear pattern it like two stripes, where the centre part hasn't worn at all but the outside parts have. I stopped the brake squeel by copper grease on the shims so that's a bonus but I'm worried about this brake wear. I don't want to buy new pads and discs if its going to ruin them with the same problem.

My only guess is the calliper slider pins not working in sync together.

Any suggestions would be great!

P.s it's a Celica t sport

Cheers dan

Slider pins sticking usually accounts for one pad wearing faster than the other on the same hub.  If the pads are heavily worn at the edges then it sounds like the discs are worn in the middle leaving a ridge at the edge and centre of the disc.

Very seriously, it goes without saying that brakes are important, so if you can't fathom out the problem yourself you really need to get them checked out at a reputable garage, as it's not only your safety that is at stake but that of those around you.

Lack of use, not heavy enough on brakes etc can all cause it and its quiet common,

I drive my mapped vrs quiet spirited but mine were starting to do it, usually find a few 70 to 0 hard stops once a month usually keeps them nice and rust free

I don't think the post is about corrosion on the discs, rather it's the wear characteristics.
