Hi everyone/anyone,

My name is James and I bought my first Skoda last year, a '52 plate Octavia vRS. It's my third car, although I only bought my second car (a mk3 golf) after my first car (a mk2 golf) spontaneously combusted one day. My favourite thing about my car is the badge - no-one suspects a Skoda to be quick, any more than they suspect the Spanish inquisition :D

I've been browsing Briskoda.net for a while now for various bits of useful information, and figured it's finally time to sign up and try to find something to contribute to help other Skoda owners out.... not sure what help I'll be yet, as I'm a complete mechanical n00b, but having just managed to get my driver door's speaker working I feel like I've earned some man points.

My two car-related things I'm aiming to do over the next couple of months are:

 - find a reasonable set of speakers on the cheap

 - work out if I can justify getting a remap done on the basis that it may give me better fuel consumption, and where to go for said remap

Any initial pointers with either of those things would be much appreciated!

Welcome James

Trip up the A1/M to Jabbasport? :)

Welcome.

One piece of advice is to get rid of the symphony stereo if you're looking for speakers, it's pretty rubbish

Welcome to the forum James :) Congrats on the 'man points' :giggle:

Hello and have a look in the for sale/wanted for some decent stereo/audio stuff.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Cheers for the welcome folks!

As it happens, the only reason for considering a speaker upgrade was because I inherited a sony stereo. It made a noticeable improvement even with the stock speakers, so I figured if I could pick up some dirt cheap speakers second hand it'd improve the listening experience even more.

I'll keep an eye out in the sale section, but I need to do a bit of reading first to figure out what I need/want ;)
