sawtoothing AGAIN......

Featured Replies

last tyres really awful sawtooth. this set approx 10,000 but it is starting to slowly reappear when I had brakes done today.

last set I got 'hunter 4 wheel allignment' done, but he said rear was ok and didn't need it. are there any other causes, or was he just an inexperienced kwikfit monkey. I watched it on the screen and it looked ok, to my limited knowledge and if it was needed, they would surely have done it with me happy to pay the reddies......

he was about 12, or maybe I'm just getting older.

I feel for you. But I think it plagues some people forever! Like me.

I had mine lowered 14 months ago. At the time it was sawtoothing on the OSR inner edge.

It's now doing it on the NSR worse than the OSR. Inner & outer edges on both sides.

I've had the angle adjusted from silly numbers to 1.2° when the springs were fitted and now to 1.1° - the lowest mine can be adjusted to.

I don't hold out much hope though...

Apparently Michelin tyres are much less prone to it than others.

The guys who fitted it suspects that the rear springs I've got might not be strong enough to support the back of the car properly. They checked with the manufacturer to see if they are the right ones - and they are.

I think I'm going to have to replace tyres every 12k miles or live with it until the tyres wear down.

PS: you're not getting older - they are getting younger...

For me, 12000 miles is 2-3 months, so longevity counts. Especially when the rest of the tread looks relatively new.

What tyres do you have? Some are prone to it.

I'd recommend some Michelin as you'll get longevity and less if any sawtoothing

I usually run my front tyres off and then swop the rears to the front and fit new ones to the rear before they start to step off
