ABS ISSUE

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a problem with my ABS controller module. I have a permanent failure coming up on diagnostics. I've so far replaced the brake light switch (€25), the ABS pressure switch (€230) and then I finally changed the ABS pump and control module (€450). This was a (used) complete unit sourced from Germany. I had it coded by a Skoda dealer (€85) and all was well until I had the brakes bled later that same day due to a 'soft' pedal. Shortly after the bleeding, the ABS /Traction dash lights came on and now stay on once triggered during norman breaking. It also intermittently shows up a "Check break pads" dash warning, but the pads have loads of 'meat' on them and don't need changing. I assume it's related to the module error. Has anyone any advice on this? My options are to try having it re-coded and cross fingers or buy a new pump/module at £850 U.K main dealer or a whopping €1,750 from an R.O.I main dealer (supply and fit in both cases).

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated ...

Rob

The car is a 2005 MK I  (AWX 1.9 TDI 130), Edition 100 with 150,000 miles. No other issues ...

Checked ABS sensors? They easily breake...
