I was still and a guy came round the corner and hit me.

What is the bit under the doors that are damaged?

Is this part of the chasis?

The garage want it for 2 weeks and its about 4k to fix.. The other said it was his fault but who knows what people say after the event to their insurance company !!!!!!

thats the sill. If its damaged the chassis, which is very likely, it will be an instant write off

The damage looks worse than it is, the sill isn't integral to the chassis and can be replaced, although its not an easy job.

Sills can more often be pulled back out or metal filled if sliced. Clever how they do it actually, they weld some metal bars to the sill and then use something to excert enough pressure to pull it back out into shape.

Had a similar thing but not quite so severe on a 3 week old Golf having hit (and sadly decapitated) a badger on a 70 limit piece of dual carriageway...doing about 70mph.

Anyway it looked pretty terrible bit got fixed and you'd never known it had happened.....apart from the fact the guy that repaired it completely missed a dent in the front door and just painted it....then proceeded to get the raving ass with me when I pointed it out....wanted to accuse him of being both a **** bodywork repairer and blind at the time but wasnt sure what he'd have done to my car if I had haha

Fair play they will be one hell of a bodyshop if they can get that back into shape without replacing the sill. I replaced the sill one mine which had far less damage than yours as they are super strong and very hard to get back to original shape. It requires drilling of about 70 spot welds and then spliting and re attaching. Never know mate could go either way depending on the prices that get quoted. Their trying to repair a lot more these days than they used to and some insurance companies take the **** with refusing to pay for panels and insisting on them being repaired when they are past repair!

Heres mine:

Good luck with it all mate

really doubt that'd be a right off TBH. Possibly sill replacement and realignment on a jig IMO.

+1^^^^. Can't see that being written off if it's a fairly new car (sorry can't see your profile on my daft fone). Back in my paranoid mode makes another strong case for a dashcam. Other driver says it's their fault then backs down..typical **** trick...... Simples send his insurer the vid. End ex.....

Feel sorry for you m8.

I know how you feel :(
