Hi Guys

 

Need to source a used gearbox for my 53 plate vrs but need the gear box code to make sure I am looking for the right part. I assumed that there was only one 6 speed box but a few places have told me this is not the case.

 

Car is at the garage so can't check myself.

 

If anyone knows the gearbox code for a 53 plate vrs please let me know.

FJW & FSM are the longer gearboxes found on the early Fabias.

I can have a look later. Mines a long box. I do 1800rpm in 6th at 70. Mines an 04 plate.

So I'm guessing I have early type since mine has to be one of the earlier fabia vrs about.

 

So are we saying that all three will fit and it is just a matter of the gearing?

Exactly, all the clutches etc are the same iirc, just some gearing changes, most you dont notice, only 6th is a big difference. Yours (and mine) will do 80mph at about 2000rpm while with the later boxes they rev a little higher. I like my long one, motorway trips are nice and economical others prefer the shorter box. There are 4 all together, the other 2 are HDS & JNC.
