MX5 For Sale/Swap/Part Ex - Hardtop, HSD Coilovers, S-VT Wheels

Featured Replies

This is my 1996 1.8 16v Mk1 Mazda MX5

This car was sold by MX5 City in 2011 so you can rest assured this is a good example!! If you have opened this ad then you probably know exactly what you're looking at.

The spec of the car:

1.8 16v 130bhp model,

108000 miles,

Tax until end of October 2013,

MOT until middle of August 2013 (see above)

3 month old HSD coilovers with pillowball top mounts from Driftworks, still have the receipt for these at almost £800. These coilovers are some of the very best you can buy for these cars, they feature adjustable spring preload, spring height and dampening adjustment. they are a serious piece of kit,

Hardtop with heated rear window which I have just had painted to match the car,

16" Mazda MX5 S-VT alloy wheels with 4 brand new tyres fitted only last Sunday (30/6/2013),

New black leather with red stitching handbrake and gear lever gaitors fitted last week,

New Doctor MX5 shifter boot to replace the old, ripped rubber boot that comes standard,

M3 lip spoiler on the boot fitted yesterday,

Ignition timing advanced to 16 degrees BTDC,

Alternator belt, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, cam cover gasket and CAS O ring changed last week,

At the same time as having the oil and filter done I had the Diff oil, gearbox oil and turret oil changed.

I had discs and pads replaced all round last Monday 8/7/13

Obviously every bit of work I have had done I have receipts for as I believe in keeping everything to show a car has been well looked after.

The car is great to drive, the suspension compliments the cars original characteristics so well it has a comfortable ride when set on a softer setting. I run it on 11 clicks from soft (16 clicks available) and I feel this gives a good compromise between ride comfort and handling. To get the very best from it a proper alignment and camber set up would be ideal.

The car is solid underneath and is generally a very clean, tidy car. Couple of little rust bubbles but these haven't completely rotted through and are solid to tap. The front wings need painting as the passenger side one has cracked filler and the drivers side one has a small amount of solid bubbling as can be seen in the picture.

The only other issues are:

Rear window in the soft top has a split in it, covered by clear tape at the minute.

Tailgate could do with swapping/painting as some of the paint has cracked a little but tailgates are cheap as chips!

I genuinely believe this is possibly one of the best mk1's around and whoever buys it will be extremely happy with it.

Please note this model has no power steering, no ABS, no electric windows etc. It is a proper drivers car.

I can be contacted on 07557361223 (call or text). It is advertised elsewhere so don't be disappointed if it has sold before you decide it's worth viewing, all I can say is the first person to view will buy it so be quick.

Car is in Lincoln.
