Hatchback Vs 50" Plasma

Featured Replies

Just for information if anyone ever needs to - I managed to pickup my new Panasonic TX-P50GT60B 50" Plasma TV in its box - upright as they are meant to be carried (like they would be on the wall or stand) in my FL vRS Hatch.

To do so you can't have anyone else in the car, you need take the rear lower seat swabs out - wind the passenger seat all the way forwards and then tilt the back forwards - the TV will then fit diagonally across the car - it is tight and I would recommend a few bits of cloth so that the box doesn't rub the interior - but it does just go in

We opened all Windows as well to help maneuver it into place - but it will still fit with the windows closed.

The manager at Richer Sounds was impressed especially when I opened all the Windows using the remote

Saw a bloke having similar issues with a large TV Vs a Corsa at Tesco.

Most funny it was. Didn't stay to see the end of the show.

Tis was fine once I had worked out how to adjust the cars interior - I had asked for the dimension before setting off to purchase so I knew that it should go - backup plan was I had a duvet and pillows in the boot and would have unpacked it from the box.

I saw some funny stuff like that when I worked at Currys. One was Jag XJ vs Washing Machine. They put it on the roof believe it or not lol

I got an armchair from IKEA in my hatch. Amused the staff no end!

All that effort and no picture! ? Well done all the same.

Nice just goes to show the size of these boots :)

I had an ikea settee in mine!

I got a full size Bosch dishwasher in the back of a few day old Astra H 1.9 CDTi 150 SRi XP I had a few years ago, that took some doing and did no damage to the car at all

I once picked up 3 6 foot internal doors in my octy and the guy said they will never fit in there.

I just folded the seats and popped them in and shut the tailgate the gut was gobsmacked.

Likewise - took my internal doors to be dipped and stripped. Bloke was amazed they went in and the hatch shut!

My last Ikea trip I got a queen sized mattress, 3 flatpacks wooden bed kit,

leather armchair, flatpack bookshelf and 3 large bags of bedding and

other accessories all home in one go and still had room for Mrs G in the

passenger seat. It's about the only time I can say 'Kangoo with roof bars FTW.' :)

i managed to fit an ikea day bed + 2 matress in mine, a few weeks back.

the folks at ikea kept saying no it won't fit, please use our expensive deliver service!!

as described earlier by gti jazz - i too removed the rear seat base, so the floor is flat, and slide the front seat all the way forward, and folded onto the dashboard.

longest piece was 210 cms.  widest piece was 106 cms.

I've had a couple of washing machines in the back of the Octy. Getting them out is the hard bit.

Only used the boot to store the seat bases as I wanted to carry the TV as recommended upright in its box and due to the hatch and the lip where the rear seat backs meet the boot - that was a no - no.

The seat bases could have gone in round the box and I would have been able to get a full surround system in as well  as the boot was empty.

And yes I should have taken a picture of it in the car, I can take a picture of it on my wall at home though.
