Picked up new Octivia today

Featured Replies

Well...the day finally arrived.  I arranged with the sales person to collect the car at 12pm today (17th July), as I arrived at the dealer the car still had its protective covers on and looked like it hadn't moved from when I saw it the Friday before.  Needless to say I was not impressed, I'd already told the dealer I'd be collecting the car during my lunch from work so was on limited time.

The sales person was very apologetic and took full responsibility for the car not being ready but I still was not happy.  I agreed to wait the 20mins it would take to prepare the car and go through the paperwork while I was waiting.  I was purchasing the car on a PCP through Skoda finance, when I ordered the car back in May the offer was £500 deposit and 6.7% interest and 3 years servicing.  While I was waiting the sales person came back to me to say they've got some good news for me, I now qualify for the new 0% finance deal with 3 years servicing and my monthly payments have just dropped £53 per month!!!.....the thought of the car not being ready now didn't seem so bad.

My p/x had finance owing but they held the p/x price from the order but calculated my deposit on my new lower settlement value, putting another £430 into my deposit, nearly compensating for losing the £500 Skoda deposit on the original deal.

So after 1.5 hours in the showroom and £1900 better off I was away in my Octavia hatch (1.2 TSI SE manual) with 17" Denoms, Front & Rear Armrests, Multifunction Steering Wheel and LED Rear Lights finished in Metallic Silver.

I've only driven the 20 miles home from work so far but I already love the drive and refinement, a big step up from the Toyota I've left behind.  I especially love the multifunction steering wheel, it has a lovely feel and the piano black trim looks the business.  The 1.2 TSI is more spritely than I thought it would be (having test drove the 1.4 TSI I was a bit nervous) but I need to do some more miles before making a final judgement.

I've attached a photo, sorry for the poor quality, taken on my iPhone.

Congrats!!!

Enjoy.

Waiting for more pics and a review of the 1.2 TSI engine.

Congrats, I hate you so much. Not really just jealous as I'm still waiting.

Look forward to more photos and your experiences

Enjoy your new car - and an unexpected bonus to get it on 0% finance! :sun:

Wow, I wish I could take my car back, and get 0%. would love to know what the deal was you had that manages to save £53 per month.

I am sure that grin will be even bigger now...

Hi Has,

Very Nice looking car mate. How did you get 0% finance, i was told that it is only available if you pay 50% deposit ? My car was delivered to dealers this week and i have arranged for collection next week and today dealer called to advice me that my monthly payments will be £10 less than what i was quoted when i placed order, just because of extra monthly payments i had made on my P/X change since i placed the order.

Hi dellfan....I didn't do anything, I walked into the showroom to collect the car fully expecting to pay the monthly amount agreed when I placed the order. I knew about the 0% deal which is now on but thought I'd missed out on that, this is the first time I've ordered a new car on a long lead time on a PCP so don't really know the rules around this.

The sales person just came to me with the good news...they also said the reduction in the finance monthly amount makes no difference to them (the dealer) so there's no reason not to pass this saving on to me. It may be worth giving Skoda Finance a call before you collect the car, you've got nothing to lose by asking. I paid £1k deposit + £1k in my p/x so no where near 50% deposit. If I got the 0% PCP deal and can't see why you shouldn't....let us know how you get on.

I ordered on 6/7/13 and 0% finance had just started on the Solutions plan. Our deposit was £500.00 to order and guaranteed £3,000 trade in for our current Octavia for September so £3,500 in total.

This forum is great. After reading Has post i called up my dealer and asked about 0% APR, he checked and said my car is eligible for the 0% APR. He recalculated my figures and my monthly payments have just dropped £70 per month. WOW....Thanks Has. Pic to follow....Watch the space.

Great news dellfan....I couldn't see any reason why you shouldn't have benefitted like I did. It somehow makes the car even better knowing you've saved a few quid, hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!...looks good by-the-way.
