MABS 8 controller eeprom error 16347

Featured Replies

I asked about this ABS fault code 16347 a year back and have now inherited the car and the fault. Looking to replace the ABS controller which has a part number 6Q0 907 379 S and there are plenty around on ebay but none with the last S. All seem to be 6Q0 907 379 AF. Can this be used? Would it have the same coding (0000005)? Or could the eeprom error refer to a healthy module that has been incorrectly coded?

Remember the fault. Kept showing up when I scanned the car. Never had a dash light or apparent breaking problem but the car was relatively new to me. Eventually bought a used controller, pump, valve block assembly off ebay and fitted that. Problem solved! Still working fine and ABS works fine also. So controller was faulty I think. Don't remember the replacement job as being difficult and bled up OK with VCDS.

LB123 Thanks so reply your mean changing a ABS module/pump? because they are no dashboard light but when the problem starts it display EPC light and traction light and it come to limbo mood and i restart is at it will move normally .

I believe fault code 16347 can apply to several different electronic modules in the car. It is just VW's way of saying an electronic module itself is testing as faulty (or has faulty firmware programming) as opposed to the system that the module controls is faulty. In my case the code came up when VCDS checked the electronic module that controls the ABS. I resolved that by changing the ABS electronic module and the easiest way of doing that for me was to buy a second hand ABS module, pump and valve block, easy and cheaply available in the UK on ebay.

I have googled other reports where 16347 has also come up for electronic handbrake, trunk release or engine ECU. In some instances after a flat battery and jump start which seems to be able to upset some modules. One report suggested disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes cleared the problem. One suggested checking the fuses on top of the battery for looseness or cracks.

You need to clarify which electronic module the code has come up for.
