badge deletion

Featured Replies

Just been on the skoda website configurator and noticed you carnt have the model deletion

wonder why, after all it saves them money..

Been looking through the forum and the best way seems to be dental floss to take them off.

Will ask dealer on saturday after my test drive,,,,and value on mine,,,but I think that will end up in an insult and will put it in trader.

I had my vRS Mk2 debadged at Vindis. I wanted a cleaner look and I believe it was done with dental floss or similar. Would be a good factory option IMHO.

Did they also remove that hideous Vindis decal they stick on the rear at the same time? Or we're you lucky enough not to have one?

Bin'd that straight away mate but was still left with the number plates. It was the Fleapit...sorry Woolpit site (now moved to Bury).

If I was to ever buy from Vindis (which in itself would be highly unlikely) they would either supply the car without their ridiculous "Vindis Badge" on the back or else I'd be refusing to take delivery of it (obviously would get it all in writing first).

If I take the plunge with a VRS I'll be removing the 'Skoda' and 'Octavia' badges...a hairdryer, fishing line and some polish will do the job!

That makes no sense to me at all, I think they look totally stupid debaged and make it look cheap, and if owned by a racer

Don't hold back now Ryan lol.

I actually love the uncluttered smooth look of removing the badges and cleaning is much easier as a result. As for looking like a racer...surely that is determined by how one drives and not by the existence of a skoda/octavia badge.

Don't mean to cause offence, :) honestly

I do appreciate that it can look nice on occasion.  But hopefully you know what I mean, I would put it in the same bracket as someone putting a big spoiler on the back etc, or go faster stripes.  Obviously on a far end of the scale but you get my meaning.  I hope

Isn't it the other way around actually? You are taking something off, not putting anything on. You're making it look "cleaner" rather than adding silly bits to it. Plus, this model has way too many badges on the back: "Skoda", "Octavia", "VRS/TSI/TDI". They need one more and have all corners of the boot covered. That isn't elegant in my opinion.

A lot of manufacturers have it as an option when you order the car. That can't be seen as putting a big spoiler/go-fast stripes on the car, surely.

The problem with taking the badges off the back of an Octavia is a lot of people will think it's a Rapid.

IMO

  Good point, well made!  :bandit:

that is true actually, look its all personal taste I suppose.

I do agree there a lot of badges on the back,

My Audi A3 driving colleague asked why I debadged the rear as you can't do anything about the winged arrow...so funny...next he will be doing the wheelbarrow joke!

Anyway laugh is on him..he's looking to place an order for a new vRS.

Erm I take it you don't like Vindis Stoof! Any particular reason? My company only bought from Vindis coz they were nearby. I didn't have a bad experience but then again not special.

well mine are coming off easier to clean and I lke the cleaner look

mine carnt look like a rapid its a combi....for the thing

Check out an entry that has appeared on the Configurator as Standard Equipment (at least for an Elegance Estate): "Without nameplate set (without model designation)".  This didn't appear when I specced my order 6 weeks ago, nor does it appear under the Options. But it appeared on the full printout of a rerun of my specification.  (which I do occasionally to see if anything new has appeared that could be requested before my Build Week is imminent).
