That looks great and love the interior choice. Just what I'd be after next :-)

What's with the '132' on the plate? Has RoI changed their system? Thought yours just started with the year....

Thanks, I am very pleased with it.

Re, the reg plates.

You are correct.

We did used to start our plated with the reg year but 2013 being the year a lot of superstitious Irish people said they will not be changing their cars as they felt 13 on their plated would e bad luck.

Also SIMI dida survey and decided to follow the UK system in a similar manner.

This year in January we started with 131 - C  ( C being the county Letter for Cork )

This was in place until end of june when it went 132-C ( Or letter for corresponding county )

They are trying to boost later year sales as normally sales of new cars dropped quite a lot after August.

lovely wagon Vectra, thought you were getting a seat!!Where did you get the new one from? Tarrants or Deasy's?

Very nice :) Especially like the interior. Lets just hope that some muppet doesn't drive down the side of this one.

Had no choice only to go with combi.

It was the only one available.

And it is a combi, not an estate

Congrats, very nice car!

Combi or wagon are acceptable in my book B)

Nice car. All worked out okay in the end then..

Best of luck with the new car Eugene, very nice, have to say though, if it was my money I would have tried to get one of the first mk3 vRS unless you got a really good price on it!!

Couldnt wait until January for a Mk2 unfortunately.

But as you say,

Got a super deal on this one.

Thanks

Combi? Short for combination? Combination of what?

Estate = property = house - I could fit my house in the boot

Therefore 'estate' is a much more sensible word

QED

;)

Or even shooting brake.  Like so many things*, the concept was invented here in good old Blighty.  For taking shooting parties up to the butts.

A station wagon was slightlu more sophisticated, similar but used to ferry your guests to and from the station to your hunting lodge (ie rambling cold and draughty.  Only way to keep warm is to drink copiously).

Combi was a much later German word created because the others wouldn't have any context.

I  have a  German combi strimmer/hedge trimmer/brushcutter.

And shouldn't it be Kombi?

*An incomplete list.

Kicking round/off round bits of air filled leather about

Hitting bits of hard leather with a bit of wood while standing in a field.

Various ways of hitting round bits of rubber or feathered things with over tight fishing nets on sticks, often, but not always over a proper fishing net.

Semi controlled falling down snowy mountains while standing on bits of wood.

Messing about in the cold and snow on mountains in general.

Breaking news from the north!  Some folk claim to enjoy using a lumpy stick for hitting small, uneven hard round things several times before it hides in a hole.  Repeating this 18 times is called a good walk ruined.

Not to mention Globeish aka English(v.2/US).  (until we all have to learn mandarin).

>Vectra, (and back on topic for a while).  Bad news/good news.  Glad it all worked out, and you don't feel too stressed!  In the great scheme of things you more or less got one over the robbin' wotsits.

Blimey....what a mad story to read....I can not in no way understand how he could hit a parked car......plank.....Well I am glad its fully sorted and you now have an estate..... Welcome to the Estate club.....I was the same as you, never wanted to have an estate but then as soon as i saw my motor i just fell in love. Love the interior....

Just caught up with this thread.

Well, there is a time in a every young man's life when he discovers full manhood and leaves boyish ways behind.

And buys an estate.

Happened to me just last year and very happy too.

Glad you got it all sorted out and yes, please let karma get that idiot back (but spare his poor kid of course)!

Love my estate....

Just on an update to this.

So far nothing has been done with the driver of the car that caused this.
Shows how the justice system works over here.
