Speed Sensing

Featured Replies

Does the Octavia have any kind of speed sensing as standard which might interfere with an aftermarket headunit?

I've got a Pioneer P77mp hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate 500X amp running a set of CDT HD62 components in place of the original front speakers and when I slow down the volume reduces.

The headunit has this as a setting but its switched off but its still doing it

As far as I know both the mkI and mkII do have a speed signal fed to the HU. I assume it is can based on the mkII.

Based on your profile, so assuming you have a mkII Octy, I think it could be very difficult as the signal is presumably coming via CAN BUS rather than an individual wire.  My knowledge of CAN BUS is rather sketchy, so I can't really help.

I would hazard a guess to say that it is delivered via the CAN-BUS - I can't see any kind of speed or CAN-BUS input on the Pioneer - just looked at the installation manual on the Pioneer Website - so if it has anything it must be an internal function.

The manual suggests that the ASL is an internal function and must have a mike to monitor the internal car acoustics for road speed level.

Perhaps there is a bug or an update to the FW in your Pioneer ?

I'd say TA is your best bet with this one.

The Speed sensing, if you mean Car Speed, I believe it's in the Radio Settings, " Gala " Springs to mind

Might be wrong though

Is it possible to stop the speed sensing via VCDS? Just wondering if it might be as I no longer have it in maxidot I can't turn it off due to now using the oem headunit

There may be an option in the instrument controller, I don't recall seeing anything in either the CCU or central electrics controller.
