Less power on WOT than 3/4 throttle

Featured Replies

That's the best way I can describe it really.  The car used to have that extra take off on wot now it backs off and you can feel more power as the throttle is lifted again to 3/4.  Still hunting my mpg problem I think this may have something to do with it.  I had a quick poke around the net and it's seems a few people have had the same issues.  No errors on Vag'chrummy'com. Maybe a throttle pedal potentiometer problem?.  I can hear quite a load hissing coming from the inter cooler area on idle.  The boost pipes are all connected fine and the o-rings replaced.  Maybe hole in the inter cooler itself?.  I don't think there are any garages around here with a smoke test machine to do a boost leak test. They all say if there are no vagcom errors they cannot do anything. We all know that's the first thing they do regardless and charge ninety squid to tell you its go no error's. Any help much appreciated.

whats WOT ?

whats WOT ?

Wide Open Throttle

Could potentially be a symptom of a boost leak somewhere.

Full boost widens a hole losing boost = losing power.

When you lift off, boost drops, so the hole close and power returns.

A boost leak could explain MPG issues too

oh lol ...

when mine used to do that i let it warm up properly then took it for  a good thrashing and it would pick up .... (i think it used to get clogged up after a few months of motorways)
