Requesting Boost But Not Produceing

Featured Replies

Bascially i took my car to CC tuning in burton top bloke spent the full day on my car checking things etc.

Firstly was smoke tested and found one leak but that was a loose clip (problem solved)

Had it on the rolling road before remap and was produceing 169bhp so he did live logs and found the fuel was leaning out, so he checked fuel pressure gauage and found the fuel pump was weak

So we changed the fuel pump (fueling was brilliant and wasnt leaning out at top end)

He remapped the car and ran rolling road and the map was requesting 1.5bar on overboost and settle at 1.3-1.4

But the car was only making 1.0 - 1.1 at a push, he checked all the pipes and ran live logs again everything was fine , maf was fine fueling was perfect but would not make the boost

I was wondering if anyone could help me with possible solutions please.

?

Thanks

Shane

Thanks for that OMG it could be anything :(

Similar issue with mine although mine wasnt mapped by Chris @ CC but the problem was diagnosed by him. I had same issue with fuelling so changed the pump and also the MAF was dodgy so changed that too. We then found that the actuator was very weak so I had that changed. Now the car runs sweet as a nut but is still not making requested boost, should be 1.3 bar and only making 1.1 (was even less b4 I did all the work).

One thing we did find tho was the pin on the wastegate arm has slight play in it so the thinking is that its the wastegate leaking slightly meaning it cant reach full boost. Everything else has been checked including boost leaks, n75 valve etc so im putting it down to that on mine.

Not saying its the issue with urs just thought i'd let u know.

Tbh i was speaking to chirs about an hour ago and ive noticed on my wastegate actuator he told me it should be 50/50 mines been wound down sugesting its been played with before? mines rougly 70/30

so he told me to replace that suggesting it could be faulty because some ones played with it before

did you change yours with turbo on or off?

thanks mate

Sorry read the post wrong you aint changed it

Yeh ive changed my actuator. But the pin in the wastegate has some play in it so at some point will need to do the whole turbo.

I went for the Forge actuator in the end as I cudnt find a new standard one for sale anywhere. Has to be done with the turbo off as one of the bolts sits in a pig of a place right need to oil pipe. Deffo worth changing if u think its faulty. To be sure Chris did a test on mine and the crack pressure was something ridiculously low like 2psi lol

Sorry to sound like a noob what's the difference in waste gate pin ? Sorry thanks is there anyway to test my actuator ? Thanks

the arm that connects to the actuator has a pin that opens the wastegate. On mine its that pin that has play in it (slight upwards movement to be precise)

Beach buggy turbos actuator needed

Very common for these to go weak

Wish I knew this when mine went. Searched hi and low for an actuator other than the Forge one. Where do u get these from just out of interest?

I believe this is the website for Dan who is Mr Beach Buggy http://s3tt.co.uk/ There is a contact tab at the top of the page
