This isn't a cheeky attempt to get a sale btw - feel free to let me know if I shouldn't post ads like this.

so the dealer might make about £500 to £1000 on the car after a bit of haggling.

that's pretty fair in my book but then some dealers want to make 1000's at our expense, if he makes £1000 on it then i'd say its worth his effort

plus he got a new deal outta you but if he only makes £500 then would that be worth the hassle of providing someone a warranty & all the haggling etc, must be or he wouldnt be doing it.

happy days!

That's a decent trade in then. Gives me something to think about in the future. My dealer has a few 60 plates for sale for £10500 so trade in based on yours would be around 9k for me in a years time

so the dealer makes about £1000 from the trade in + profit on your new motor + any bonuses due to hitting sales targets for skoda

not a bad deal for them then

A Dealer pays Income tax on Profit etc etc. along with all the overheads before that.

Considering how poorly the used vRS are selling around the country, its good that a Dealer takes one in.

They are after the new car sale,

Possibility of fingers well burnt with a vRS sitting on your forecourt.

PS.

Nice car.

Was that White Spider starting to show on the rear Dark Chrome wheel.?

Probably it will be sold with the Corroding Wheel, then the buyer has to point it out and go through the Warranty Claim,

But instead if started, they could just get them photographed, pics off to Skoda & changed now.

Prices of cars now do my head in!

When the mk1 vrs was 3 years old they could be had for 7.5k-8k with average miles!

:(

WBAC are offering £8850 if selling it to them up here.

Worth checking what the offer is in the south.

It was indeed a nice car - apart from the oil I had to put in (probably 5 or 6 litres in the 20 months I owned it.

White spiders on all the wheels apart from the one they photographed. I wondered if the dealer would do the warranty claim thing also, they don't look great close-up.

I was happy with the deal they offered, part of which was matching the outstanding finance at that point to pay it off, and putting up the £250 deposit on the new car.

It was a pretty immaculate car. The exterior was definitely in need of a good claying, if you look closely the top of the "s" of the vRS badge on the front broke off, but the interior is near mint.

The other thing that is soooo true that I've read on these forums time and again is that a highly specced options list affected the trade-in not one jot!

Got £10,750 for mine 62reg 4000 miles Dealer sold 3 weeks later for £11,450

I'm seriously considering selling mine a year September so if I get 9-10k trade in it won't be too bad. Best get saving for the next one though.

I traded my mk1 vrs into farmers, they have me £5150 for it, had to have the side painted as it had been keyed and it was up on there website for £6000 so they didn't make much of my old one but then again I did by another vrs through them so suppose they win in the long run!

Off topic: OP what you purchased now? Ill keep a look out for you if your local

It's all good you're a supporter!

Actually unless you worked for farmers, this would be ok posted by anyone as a look at this great model for a great price... etc.

Not a huge amount of profit in new cars either, various claw backs and hacks at the margins based on quality of service, finance etc. Maybe  5-8% when all said... Take out costs of staff, lighting, shiny new facias and logos...

I'd say like the IT industry, the money now is in people and skills. Hence labour rates, parts etc.

Dealer has no warranty cost. It still has 12+ mths new car warranty left.
