Replacing the Horn - problem

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

My horn (one of them) seems to  have conked off and i need to replace it. I figured out how to reach the horn, but i cant figure out how to disconnect the electric cable from the horn. Is there some special clip or area that has to be pressed to release the clip and disconnect the cable from the horn ?

Please advice.

I went searching for a spare horn in various shops and found many but in all cases the horn was missing a key component, the socket that is used to connect to the power cable. Here all the horns available are there with two terminals. The solution provided by the stores is to cut the cars cable and just join it to the horn. Apparently thats standard practice. Anyways i politely declined and now my search continues for this mystical connector. Its the part highlighted in yellow

The one below is how the horns are available here in the stores.

Try pressing this piece (indicated) as you gently push the connector further towards the horn, then withdraw it whilst maintaining the pressure. There is no 'click' to be felt.  There are similar, more accessible, connectors in the engine bay that you could examine more closely to become more familiar.
