New induction kit, what is the pipe connected to cold air feed?

Featured Replies

Recently got an k&n apollo induction kit and when fitting there is a pipe connected to the cold air feed.

Wondering what this is and where to connect to the new feed?

thanks

Got a pic?

You talking about the vacuum pipe?

I thought that mate but then I seem a pipe from the cold air feed. You got a cone yet? :)

If it is the vacuum pipe then I've just unplugged mine and left it.

not yet man :( turbo poop'd itself didn't it so ive had a PD150 put on it, hoping to order a darkside intercooler and egr delete this week and get some custom pipework made up, then air filter next week after a hard weekend of overtime at the weekend :)

Don't leave your vacuum pipe unplugged. It should not intake unfiltered air. Over time this could wreak the n75 following that probably clog up the actuators.

Ahh yeh mate forgot about that! Should go well after all that, alot to shell out all at once though :/

Thanks, not had the cone fitted long! Should I stick one of those mini filters on it? Or just make a hole in the cone?

I made a hole in my silicone pipe and fed it in but i doubt you would want to drill your standard black pipe if you wanted to go back standard.

Yeh mate that's what I'm thinking, will order a silicone pipe, will match the Fmic silicone :)

Ill upload a pic tomorrow. It's not a small pipe from the air box or anything, its about an inch in diameter and was connected to the old cold air feed pipe.

Here's a couple pics so show what pipe I'm on about

and then the pipe is sitting under the cold air feed but have pulled it out for the pic:

That's not the One we are on about lol

Don't know what pipe that is! In case you have left that vac pipe I drilled a tiny hole in the induction kit to push it through. If you leave it you'll get a judder at around 2000rpm and the eml on

Just realised yours is a 1.4 petrol isn't it and not a vrs??

Yes 1.4 petrol non vrs, and I don't think I have a vac pipe as already looked for one.

Its for cold starts don't worry too much about it

Okay thanks

I've noticed if you block that pipe it cuts out the engine. So does anybody know what this pipe is?

Which one?

If you mean the small vac pipe on a VRS as far as I know it's the vacuum exhaust pipe for excess vacuum, not a intake pipe as people think above.

It's connected to the standard air box to quieten down any vacuum release.

That pipe is a warm air pipe it takes hot air from the exhaust manifold and feeds it into the air box when it's cold. Best bet is remove it from the other end it's only got a jubilee clip holding it on.
