HI there

 

Can someone please tell me if both electric fans should come on when you switch on Climate Control/AC? On my Octy only the bigger one comes on I have never seen the small one spinning at all.

 

I currently have few issues with my air con and my local mechaninc says there is an issue with the smaller fan as it should be running as well. 

 

Also is therte  away to test these fans on VCDS??

My fans don't always come on .

 

They are there to cool down the gas when idling with a/c on  and are not needed when moving, just like the radiator cooling fans.

My question was if both of them come on when ac is turned on?

They usually come on yes.

 

I have had issues with my octavia VRS mk1 before where only the larger fan would work with AC, but it hardly affected the AC so i never got it sorted.

Hi, same here, my a/c is not getting cold for a good 10 mins running.. Seems that both fans should run slow when you depress the a/c button, but it's not easy to get a clear answer on the issue how the fans should work with the a/c?  The local Skoda dealer tells me I need a new compressor even though it clearly is working, this cannot be correct?  I intend to get to the bottom of the issue and will keep you posted...

Just to confirm, both fans should run. One of mine didnt so I replaced it and they both work now. Skoda will want you to replace the fan unit (complete) but you can source the single fan from GSF as I did. It required jacking the front of the car up, removing the fan housing and dropping it out from the bottom, replacing the faulty fan and refitting. Instant result and both fans now work.

 

My fans dont run until the car is up to temp, and operate when ECON is switched off (AC on), when econ is turned on my fans switch off. Though im still not sure if this is correct or whether the fans should kick in even if the car is cold started and ECON is switched off?!!?
