EGR DELETE HORROR STORIES

Featured Replies

hi just wondering if anyone has heard any horror stories about doing an egr delete on a 1.9 tdi '(110) '00 reg , I'm thinking of doing it but want to know if anyone has heard any bad things happen because of it, I've not heard anything bad so far, also is it worth doing it with the full vale replacement with a straight through pipe and are their any benefits compared to just using the blanking plates, if so has anyone got a egr delete pipe kit or plates for sale that are less than the £60 ones on eBay , cheers

I never had a problem when I deleted mine on my old tdi dont buy a blanking plate a quality street tin cut to shape with two holes in will be fine where the pipe meets the egr valve

Oh so just sandwich the tin between the pipe and the valve so the gas just hits the tin and can go no further, did you notice any benefit from doing it ??

A cut up tin is essentially a gasket without a hoel in it which means it becomes a pikey blanking plate.

I just bought 2 of these off Darkside Developments for about £13 including VAT and postage

Remove the EGR pipe and cover the holes (one on the exhaust manifold and 1 on the underside of the EGR) and jobs a goodun

Given the engine will then only ever be igniting fuel and clean air, rather than fuel and an air and low oxygen exhaust gas mix, it should run cleaner and more efficiently giving a bit more power and a better mpg

It had better acceleration and the mpg crept up slightly ...

So what if it's pikey ? It works and saves £15+ quid :) winner

just blank off the vac to the diaphragm  (flying saucer)  worth cleaning out first
