This project thread is bonkers in the good way! Love all the mods! Can't say I'd have them all personally but I'm now full of ideas for what to do next! Thanks korban

Fair play you right the ST does come with a lot of toys but a bit out of my price range plus I a lazy driver and love the torque of a diesel.

Ben Cordy

Thanks for the compliment - one of the reasons for selling it is that I've now run out off ideas myself.

Brilliant thread, I wish i had your ability to do half of this! I'm one of those people who takes things apart then realises once its back together that i have screws left over...

I will keep some ideas from this in mind for my own VRS though!

even owed a thing called a Matra Simca Bagheera which I took round Europe

I used to live in Newhaven where these were imported through. I thought they looked OK but never ever saw one on the road.

Pig to drive LOL 1400cc with twin 45's on top plus a high lift cam meant you could only poodle along with it or flat out !!

But a 19 years of age driving a fiberglass mid engine Italian style car with 3 seats in the front and popup headlamps I thought I was the business.

Good old days LOL.

Shame to hear you are getting rid Karl, but you can't keep cars forever.

My S3 is going soon, shame as I've had it a couple of years now and would have

liked to track it to see whats what but we all know how that went.

I did my bike test back in April so I'm all about two wheels now.

I expect I will be buying a more sensible car next. I'd need to spend about 50k

to get something quicker than my bike which gets to 60 in 3.5 seconds and it's

not even a sport bike.

Bring it to the national meet Garry :)

All good things come to an end Garry - Didn't realise its been 2 years since you had the S3 and I haven't seen it. Know what you mean about taking it to the track did seem unfair considering other members had non VAG cars on track. I will most probably miss the SE and really regret it but getting old now and need a smoother ride LOL. Must admit that now the suspension is back to normal it rides a lot better now ! Might still have it for a few months yet maybe even get to Combe in it as still can't find anything I really fancy yet.

Also don't now what to do with the car - part exchange it or try to sell it for a reasonable price on here - still seeing some people trying for 6-7 k for an SE !

My advice is car, stay off the bike - to many mates have gone upstairs in the past because of them.

As Charlie says take it to the national meet.

  • 1 month later...

With your foot well lights how did you get them to change from white to blue?

Two sets - one set with white LEDs under the dash which light up when the interior light comes on and a second set that is made up of blue LEDs which are fitted under the front seats and come on with the side lights.

Sold privately John.

Had already bought the Mazda and had just finished stripping as many bits of as possible, just put a new mot on it and had booked it in for a new cam belt and water pump with the intention of advertising it on here, but a local lad who had heard that I was about to sell the car turned up and brought cash and would take it as is.

Was not anywhere as near as what some people were asking on here, but to give you an idea I lost 5k over five years of ownership so well pleased.

The Mazda (a 2011 plate 19K costing £11,600) ended up costing me just £4200 after selling the Fabia and the various mods so very happy. Just goes to show that its worth stripping the parts off !

Just remembered still have parts to sell so that £4200 will still come down.

Not modding....... Yet.

Alright I lied

The Mazda is as quick as the old Fabia but didn't feel it, didn't have the old PD shove that I loved

So I might have put a tuning box on it taking it from 182 BHP 295 ftlb to about 220-230 BHP and 350-360 ftlb

but that's it (fingers crossed)

Fair play and hopefully the local lad looks after it. He's got himself a tidy car there as well.

Fairly mature bloke who I've seen since, got a fixation about it pulling to the left - which it always has done and most do.

He really loves it

Looks Nice Karl!

BBR are well known for tuning Mazdas. They do pacakges for the Mazda 3 MPS up to about 400hp...

They also do a Mazda warrenty backed performance re-map for the 2.2d!

Thanks Joe,

Did look at BBR and yes they produce about 243 BHP but just wanted the simplicity of plugging in a tuning box.

Only running at its standard setting for now - quick enough for me - getting old !!
