Sat nav voice command

Featured Replies

Has anybody found a way to adjust the volume of the voice commands on the sat nav. I do long journeys, and I typically only want voice commands at the end of the journey, but it is a pain whilst driving to go through the menu options.

So far I have shouted lots of words, but nothing has worked

Hope somebody can help.

Just change the volume with either the volume control on the stereo or the steering wheel control while it is speaking.

thats fine, but unless you actually switch it ALL the way down to MUTE then it still interupts the stereo.

I will give it antoehr try, but I dont think you can actually mute it.

thanks anyway.

On my old Satnav in my MK2 vRS, adjusting volume while the satnav was speaking only adjusted the voice volume, when the woman had finished giving directions the music returned to its usual volume.

you can set it so it DOESNT interrupt the stereo, and/or adjust the level of muting.........

i think what wantaskoda is asking for is a quick 'Mute' button on the satnav so it doesnt interrupt the radio/cd.  My Tom Tom has this function and i use it all the time.  I agree that i too would only listen to guidance at the end of the trip.

Any quick mute function available?

Yes, that is what I am looking for. thanks

There is something in page 52 of manual about muting Navigation announcements  during a call, but i am not sure if it works when playing media

Will be interested to know my self.

I already have that set as it is a tick box.

I am more interested in an easy way to mute/unmute whilst driving.

Is there any option to change the settings via the maxi dot rather than on the head unit? As in turn of voice prompts and turn them back off, also if you push in the volume control on the steering wheel it mutes the stereo, will it mute sat nav if you do it during an announcement? shall have a play in a bit on my drive home.

I had a play on the way home and can confirm that pressing the volume control on the steering wheel silences any voice commands in progress, but you have to press it every time -it won't mute any future announcements.

In the tone menu on the Columbus you can set the start up volume. I have mine set at zero but it isn't. It is very low, and I only notice it when I'm in a 30 or lower limit, in the background.

There doesn't appear to be a mute setting unless you turn the volume down when it is talking to you. I very rarely have the verbal instructions but just use the maxidot & Columbus display.
