Do I, don't I?

Featured Replies

So, I have been thinking about a Raid for a couple of weeks now, especially with the current 0% PCP and 3 free servics deal. Looked at the standard spec and options list and contacted my local dealer to get some figures. Expecting it to be a 3 month wait as it'd have to be a factory order. Dealer came back to me saying we have almost to your specs in the showroom ???? wasn't expecting that. Had to go for a nosey. Big mistake, I want it now! Been offered a great price to trade in on my old car and about £600 of the new car too. Nothing like the £4000 some dealers are offering but this is a later spec one not pre-upgrade. Only thing is it has only front window controls

Need to give it some serious consideration over the weekend I think. ????

Did you take it out for a test drive? Also are you looking at SE or Elegance trim level?

The window controls I assume is because the model they have in stock was built before they changed the equipment list.

If you're not bothered about it and you consider the discount to be good I wouldn't see a problem myself, but if you think the lack of window controls would be an issue it might be worth just putting in a factory order anyway so that you get exactly what you want.

Definitely have a drive. Main reason I bought one was the space inside, for the price I paid nothing comes close. Having two young kids and associated shrapnel (buggy, nappies, changing bags etc.) means I needed a good sized car.

What are you using yours for (if you get it)?

Elegance 1.2 105ps. Didn't drive that particular one as it was in the showroom. But did drive another with the same engine. Phenomenal engine, pulls really well, very torquey and better MPG than my Passat TDI!

The main concern was electric windows in the back but no switches in the front, with a 9month old in the back that was a concern. But found out that it does have a switch to disable the rear controls. So it's not so bad.

It has the sports seats, spare wheel, side mouldings and Sunset glass and the 17" alloys. Really should stop talking about it as I'm talking myself into it ???? other thing is he's prepared to hold it till September so it'd be a 63 plate instead of a 13 ????

Similar sort of reasoning. 1 9 month old, 2 dogs and all the gubbins to along with them

Need a car that's gonna be cheap to run and reliable - there barely seems to be a month goes by when the Passat doesn't need something replaced. I like Sokda, having had 2 Felicias and 2 Fabias as well, and the dealer is brand new too.

Sounds like a nice spec.

Mine is an SE so doesn't have electric windows at all in the back and can't say I've missed them.

Haven't had electrics in either of my previous cars at all before so not having electrics in the rear of mine was no biggie for me, I can understand why others might be a bit sniffy about it though if they're used to having it :)

Sounds like the Rapid is a good fit to me then, although obviously the initial outgoings go up until the car's paid for it would at least be a (mostly) predictable outgoing.

Why not buy BossFox's 'yellow peril'?

I doubt BossFox will do it as 0% PCP and three free services :)

Will be a good buy for someone who can get the cash together though.

Even if paying a bit of interest by financing independently -the reduced price might make it a cheaper option in the long term -it's an idea.

True enough - it's a very good price he's listed it for

It's definitely a tempting idea, Sprint Yellow is an awsome colour my 1st Fabia VRS was Sprint Yellow. :D

If he did it'd be sold ;)

What is Boss Fox's spec? I know it's a 1.2 105ps Elegance but that's about it.

Please Note: The Rapid does have some finance on it, but that will be cleared prior to the sale.

So a few extras - he doesn't have sat nag though.

Cracking car for the money, with I had more I'd've had that otherwise :)

So, small update on this one. Went back to see the car and my local friendly salesman today. After a coffee and a bit of friendly bartering the deal was done :D

Roll on 1st September so I can pick up my Rapid. Went with the showroom model as the price was right and couldn't wait the 3 months on a factory order :p so mine will be 1.2 105Ps Elegance in Diamond Black metallic. Options are side mouldings, spare wheel, sunset glass, sports seats and option alloys.

Manual Windows are a curse with youngsters.  Once they can wind them, there is no stopping them.  There is always away to disable electric windows.

Funny, when I was growing up there were no electric windows on normal cars, and I can't remember either me or my brother winding the windows up and down for fun.

When my parent's said 'No' we knew they meant it.

Only 3 more sleeps to go! Much excitement.

Sounds like a very nice car - not long to wait!

Looking forward to your comments and pics.

Andy

Good spec:)

Is 3 months the wait atm?

I have just ordered a 1.6 Elegance as my new work bus.

I believe so, but I just had to wait 4 weeks as I opted for the showroom model, but wanted the new reg ????

Ah well, will need to put up with the focus for a bit longer then.

On a side note that was in for a service today and I had a wee Fiesta 1.0 Eco Boost.  What a hoot to drive.

Finally the 1st of September ????

Picked my car up today at 14:30 lovely looking car, 1st time I've seen it outside the showroom. Great wee drive home, and then had to make an excuse up later just so I could go for another wee drive. It's only got 50 miles on the clock and already it gets better MPG than my old Passat. Well happy, pics and further updates to follow in due course.

Good job - pics paint a thousand words!
