Yeti Facelift due to start Production

Featured Replies

As per title, My dealer has told me that Skoda are changing production over to start on the face lift model, beginning week 45.

I was in the process of getting a new quote and they mentioned the facelift model.

Skoda are currently shut down for their summer holidays........

Does any one have any official pics of the facelift ?

No. There are none. There are various 'leaked' or simulated impressions, one or two probably quite accurate, others way off the mark. You can choose which ones you believe. But none official.

So that would be w/b 4th Nov?? Do Skoda follow the conventional week numbering or is there a special VW system?

Oh and dates for Frankfurt seem to be:

Open to public

14 - 22 September

Press days

10 - 11 September

Trade days

12 - 13 September

Yes, when passing through a German dealer's Blog , I also read a similar message. http://www.skoda-portal.de/2013/07/skoda-yeti-facelift-erste-details-stehen-fest-aktueller-yeti-lauft-bald-aus/

Just one sentence  perhaps, of immediate interest (and even then it's only press speculation):

Wer noch einen Yeti mit Kulleraugen haben möchte, muss schnell sein = (approx) Anyone who wants google eyes had better be quick.

Many will remember the Austin-Healey 'Sprite' from the late 50's and early 60's.  It'll be the 'Bug-Eyed Mk 1 Sprite' they initially remember, rather than the rather characterless Mk 2 with the more conventional headlights of its sister MG 'Midget'.  Might this be a pointer to Posterity's remembrance of our Yeti?

Well, the Frankfurt Show is next month and the official photos are usually sent out to the press in the two or three weeks leading up to the show. We don't have long to wait...

Does this mean it's too late to order our 170 DSG and get an old shape ?

I hadn't thought of the Frog-Eye Sprite's look in relation to the Yeti before. It will give me and the Yeti something to think about watching a few of them (and some other A-Hs) racing at Harewood Hillclimb tomorrow. Sadly I've not got a picture of a Frog-Eye at present - I'll see if I can update this post tomorrow :)

^  Thanks, Martin - of course it was 'Frog-Eyed', not 'Bug'.

I don't think so.

The dealer was speculating about stuff that might be added to the FL spec like lane assist and active cruise control, but in all honesty he is in the dark like the rest of us.

He did think the price will go up to reflect the extra kit as standard in the region of £500-£900 like the Superb FL & Octy mk3

Sadly it seems from all reports that the characteristic round fog lights are going to be replaced with the new Skoda corporate nose. Another victory for the bland over design flair, the Yeti will then sink nicely into the morass of small crossovers. Hey Ho that is corporate life for you.

I still think that the impression posted at the top of a previous thread:

http://indianautosblog.com/2013/06/2014-skoda-yeti-facelift-rendering-83906

is the most credible FL shape. It combines the corporate front with the signature Yeti fogs.

If the round fogs are going then i'm glad i got my order in last week! :-)

Not a fan of the new skoda front end styling.

Same here, I like the round fogs.

Snowy doesn't need a facelift, he is handsome just as he is

That design is actually half-decent.  The signature round fogs are still there, even if smaller, and aren't totally lost in the remaining 'corporate' detail.  I think the Yeti would still be easy to pick up in the distance. :thumbup: ?  We'll see!

My best guesstimate (always after consulting my crystal ball that is) is they wont stop taking orders for the next 1 or 2 weeks. I'd say till the end of the month tops (and stretched) considering they have to stay on schedule for week 45 change over. Nevertheless as said already, if you are considering buying a Yeti in its current shape and form I'd suggest you hurry up!

Regarding its new design, I am myself one of those who strongly prefer the current one and that's the reason I have already placed my order. On the contrary, browsing through many blogs and sites dealing with the possible changing of the round fog lights I've seen numerous comments about how they didnt like those and would welcome such a change. Of course its a matter of personal taste and preference indeed. Yet I still believe that those round fog lights up front are one of the main characteristics of the Yeti, that give it (her/his) this so out of the ordinary (and beautiful to my eyes) look.

Managed to get the Yeti and a Frog-eye Sprite in the same shot, but not side by side unfortunately.

If you think you've seen the Sprite before then you probably have - it was the same car featured on Top Gear in the Hill Climb Challenge at Prescott.

The driver thought Yetis had character, so lets hope the round fogs stay :)

Looking at the Skoda UK website, where it details the equipment on each Yeti trim level, I see that for SE, SE Plus, and Elegance trim levels the 1.4TSI, 1.8TSI 4x4, 2.0TDI 110, 2.0TDI 110 4x4, 2.0TDI 140 4x4 and 2.0TDI 140 4x4 DSG cars are all marked as "Stock Only". So presumably you can only choose options if your dealer has pre-ordered one with the options you want.

To get a free choice of options on cars with SE trim or better it seems you have to go for the 1.2TSI, 1.2TSI DSG, 1.6TDI Elegance Greenline II, or an L&K model. (The run-out Adventure special of course has no options).
