Alternative Speed Displayed

Featured Replies

The manual suggests (on page 15)that the alternative speed displayed (thereafter described as second speed) can have the units changed. Mine is displayed in kmh but as I am in the UK that is useless to me. When I look in the settings menu of the maxidot I don't have the option to change it. Can it be changed?

Thanks,

Paul

Change country to Australia and then you can edit the speed reading.

Not in the UK, for us you are stuck with KM/H, only in other markets can the display be altered.

The reason for this, is that the EU dictates that our cars must show KM/H and MPH, in the old days these would both be on the analogue speedo, but Skoda now only display MPH on the analogue speedo. What this means is that the additional speed display is fixed to KM/H to fulfil the EU requirement.

Whilst you used to be able to use VCDS to reprogram the cluster to Australia to overcome this problem, this has been disabled on more recent cars and it's certainly no longer possible on the new Superb to recode the cluster country. It has to be Australia, otherwise all the other displays will switch to kilometres.

Manny, the miles or KMs the the odometer etc displays can be selected and changed in the maxidot.

Whilst you are correct that KPH and MPH needs to be shown, it is only a requirement that it has to be CAPABLE of being shown, which it is when the car is set to Australia.

Currently I have only had one car that I could not change over to Australia, this was a 2012 12 plate Superb, which is weird as I have since done several 13 plate cars and IIRC they all took the code… including a Superb.
