DPF removal

Featured Replies

Hi all,

..looking to change my 2.0 ltr '05 Octavia for something a little newer, but concerned about all the DPF issues. I would probably be looking for a 1.9. Is there a year after which the DPF problems have been "sorted", or is it worth getting the DPF removed and if so would this give a problem with the MOT?

Many thanks for any replies...

You're in luck as a 1.9 Octavia never had a DPF fitted.

Neither does the slightly bigger 2.0 PD140 engine with 6 speed gearbox.

Except for the Scout unfortunately.

Correct. The Scout PD140 is an 8V engine with a DPF.

And the PD engines were only fitted with a DPF to try to meet the Euro emissions tests (so I am told) so were not designed to have a DPF.

Hi all..and thanks for the replies.....I thought DPF's had to be fitted after about 2008 'ish....?...so ref the replies above, does this mean that no 1.9's have ever been fitted with one...?

thanks

In practice DPFs had to be fitted from September 2010 onwards when Euro 5 become compulsory. The non-DPF 1.9s were still being registered right up to that date.

Mines a 2007 PD140 which fits.

Wasn't the 1.9 stopped c.2008?

I think the Scout came out in 2007!

No, the 1.9 PD was sold alongside the 1.6 CR for at least a year and was still available in limited numbers until late 2010.

I stand corrected. Thank you.
