Looking to add climate control on a monty tech

Featured Replies

Hi

Had my tech for about 5 weeks now and I'm not really liking the current climate control unit on the car.

I've had a look on eBay and found a automatic unit that has been pulled out of a 2011 fabia 5j, my question is can I simply take out the current unit and fit the automatic one and away I go?

Cheers, Dan

Are you talking Bout from knobs to the digital display one?

My old Mk1 Fabia had the "manual" climate control, whereas my new Mk2 Fabia has the automatic Climatronic, and honestly, I'd much rather have manual climate control than automatic. First of all, because I like to be in control of what the AC does. Admittedly, it may not regulate the temperature as accurately (albeit I'm not sure it really does in either case), but I found it much easier to use.

I believe (am happy to be corrected if incorrect) Climatronic is a significantly more complex system with extra sensors, motors and air mixers requiring installation at the factory during build?

The digital display is, in essence, just that with the real stuff going on behind the dash so it could be a pretty involved job but of course, not impossible.

Have just checked today and Lee's right, it can't be added to the standard air con system.

The cruise control I believe can be but it needs VCDS coding once it's fitted.

Might look into this one myself once I've done a bit more digging.
