Rear axle bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have the NCT coming up soon and my axle bushes are nearly completely collapsed so I need to replace them.

I'm wondering if I should go with a Superpro front and rear kit or just replace with standard bushes as they go?

Any input is appreciated and also any advice about where to order from to ship to Ireland would be great.

Cheers,

Michael

I have Superpro bushes all round and I think they're very good.

W8 Performance can supply them I think.

Cheers, I'll ask them. I need it before Wednesday so that could be a problem....

Get some floflex rear ones

Around £40 so half the price of superpro

Standard should be fine? Just get dealer supplied.

Best to uprate (imo) plus polybushes are a doddle to fit for a diy'er

Standard bushes are a mare to fit on a drive / garden shed lol

Std are ok to fit tbh as long as you have patience and can improvise a little

I actually found the Fabia VRS rear beam bushes better that the  std Octy VRS as the Fabia ones are not "voided"  and are a solid type bush, very similar to the Seat Leon Cupra R ones but much cheaper

here is my DIY guide if it helps

hmm, Might chance that I can find a dealer with them in stock as I need them Wednesday.

Anybody know if spurious Fabia VRS ones will be tougher too?

You can get genuine OE bushes from GSF and ECP at half the price that the dealer charges.

OEM for the standard Mk1 Octy RS bush (plastic outer casing, 71.4mm OD) is ZF Lemforder.

OEM for the standard Audi A3 bush (steel outer casing, 69mm OD) is Boge.

The different types of bush fit in the same rear beam.

I changed some on an A3 a few weeks back. Getting the new bushes in was easy. Getting enough room to work and getting the old bushes out was a complete pain in the rectum. I've got all the proper tools to do the job too. Special hydraulic press and adapters to get them out and proper insertion tool. The steel bushes really get stuck in there! I'm expecting my car to be easy after the Audi.

Might be an opportunity to rent out all the special tooling I have if there's demand.....

Yes they are as per my comments , As far as i could see std octy VRS bushes are all the same as the none octy VRS and other Golf / Audi A3 platforms in that  they are "voided" bushes (they have gaps in them to allow softer travel)

The Leon Cupra R / Audi S3 / Golf R32 has a tough "none Voided" bush as does believe it or not the Fabia VRS, So the Fabia VRS is a upgrade over the Octy VRS bush .

I have them and can confirm the ride is better, Although if you want easy simple install (if doing DIY) the Super pro or any similar 2 piece poly bush wins hands down as you do not need to press them in.

The Fabia VRS bush is cheapest option though

Did you notice any improvement in handling, comfort etc?

Oh yeah tightens whole front end up, negatives is slightly harsher ride
