Expert insurance guy won't replace my Neptune VRS alloy wheel

Featured Replies

A Mini hit the side of me and totalled my alloy wheel and side of car. The VW Audi dealer body shop said they would replace it with 2 new doors and other things. Some guy from an insurance company came to look at car and said I had curbed it and not accident damage !!!

I even have pictures which took at scene of crash. Got car back today everything now perfect except screwed alloy !!!!

If they won't replace it, anyone know where I can get a single neptune 18 inch ?

What, pray tell, is his explanation for the rubber marks on the spokes above the kerbed-looking section of rim?

I mean, I can see his point as far as it goes, but kerbing damage tends to be confined to the outside half-inch and not half-way across the radius!

Yeah, what a muppet, it's clearly not curbing. However, rather than buy a new wheel, as long as there aren't any cracks or bad damage, I would get a professional refurb. £50-60 is the going rate and should be better than new if done properly.

Must of been a bl00dy big curb.

Good opportunity to get the wheels coloured, have a look for a local wheel refurber such as TheWheelSpecialist

Take it this is not your insurance guy?

If it is then you need to seriously make a complaint.

This must be the other drivers insurance accident assessor and he is trying to keep the repair bill down?

That is blatantly not curb damage to the outer rim it is as fresh as the black rub marks, looks like her rim hit there and chipped it badly and black is where the tyre rubbed hard.

Complain, do not accept the repair, hopefully you have not signed anything stating the repair is to your satisfaction?

Your wheel was fine before the accident, so DO NOT accept anything less...simples.

I would not even contemplate accepting that on my car they would soon know my name at the repair centre and insurance company. Stand up and be counted.

agreed.

stand up and get it replaced. That's the point of insurance after all.

That said I did this on a curb :peek:

That was one hell of a curb

Complain, complain, complain

He needs his eyes testing.

if the assessor is from the other parties insurance get onto your own and tell them you are not impressed and make them sort it.

+1 and take them or if yours to the insurance ombudsman.

To save £150? Doesn't seem worth it! The damage looks fresh and did you mount Ben Nevis with that damage?

don't think I've ever seen a rubber lined kerb, and that's the only way a kerb could have caused that damage!

If the alloy has taken that much of a hit will the Tyre side wall have taken some damage as well?

Logic would of said that if it was a rubber lined curb then there would be no damage to the wheel  ......this insurance assessor must either be blind or have muck in their eyes..... Complain like mad and make sure you speak to your insurance company about the way this other company has accused you of curbing that alloy...

You need to get the name of the area claims manager for your company. I did this a while ago with an Audi A4, it got to the point where I had the guy standing at Ninemeister in Warrington as the car was not repaired correctly after some suspension and rear subframe damage, I said I would pay for the checks but if they indicated the workmanship was shoddy the cost would go to the insurance company and the car would be re submitted for the repair to be done again!

Call your insurer and they will give you the number of who you need.
