Anyone got any real pics of the monte estate?

Recommended Posts

No I didn't, if I had I wouldn't have ordered them prior. Given I'd not sat in the car at that point. And then you dive in a new car, in the pouring rain etc. It's not the first thing on my mind to keep the door ajar. Bad circumstances.

But I expect *them* to know the car better than me. Yeah? Isn't that what I'm paying for - their expertise in a hand-over, for the models they see day in and day out.

I'd have thought an astute businessman might have noticed ;)

It's also pretty blinkered expecting the salesman to know any more about the car than the basics

My business is not skoda cars or skoda parts though. Besides who says I'm astute?

Well I've learned my lesson that it's not possible to purchase as car from the said dealership and let them be the experts of their own products, so no real confidence in them. Should I check the engine - just in case i have the 86bhp version?  :wonder:

*UPDATE* I've just spoke to them on the phone (since they didn't call me back) - and the parts guy confirmed the Monte Carlo does have sill protectors. Would've been handy last night though eh? The same guy who unloaded them to me.

All in all very poor, and has definitely sullied things a bit. It's meant to be a nice experience, and it hasn't been.

Still, looking forward to the Skoda UK customer service call ...

Another pic.  'Tis a great drive. Still only done 90 miles in it!.

Had a ring around to different dealers to try and secure one for girlfriend, was struggling to find any more Petrol Tech Estates on the system.

I will go to Doncaster I think next time, they seem to be on the ball (Mildly)

Nice one, doesnt look as good as mine though ;)

I wouldnt get too disheartened by the sales geezers, i've come to the conclusion after my mate got a job as one that generally they're not car enthusiasts, they'll sell anything whether it's fridge freezers, extended warranties, cars, timeshare & they'll gladly fleece people when possible.not all mind but i dont think the genuine ones get very far. That being said, now & again a good one comes along that seems to get the balance right between customer savings & sales commission.

The average enthusiastic buyer probably does know more about the cars than the sales folk, after all we spend allot of time researching at home, on the net, speaking to other owners, looking for deals etc & the average sales guy isnt going to spend his own time at home looking at all this stuff & is too busy during the day ripping people off.

When we buy food from Tesco we dont expect the till operators to be proffessional chefs & it's the same with sales folk & cars, expect them to be purely a means of transport for your hard earned.Sadly the pressure is on us as the buyer to do the research.

im not saying it's right though, just the way it is.

im sure a dealership full of enthusiasts would make more sales in the end but such is life.

I partially agree but the analogy doesn't sit well with me, for instance you may go to tescos and they won't usually give you specialist knowledge. Box shifters for the cheapest price. But if I walk into my local butchers I expect them to be able to advise me appropriately on their products and they do.

Now translate this to a Skoda dealer , you would expect them to know more about their cars and treat their customers say better than a car supermarket or drivethedeal etc. They are the only specialists we have for Skoda. We pay a bit more to get better looked after than a discount website.

I digress, but I've now chased Doncaster for a ballpark p/x on a car they sold me against a new Skoda. 24hrs later still no call, that doesn't require specialist knowledge just decent customer service. So I ring them and they are apparently "working on it." Jeez.

My beef with Lincoln is much more than the sill incident - that was the final straw in a string of events. So when people here jump to their defence - they clearly are only hearing half the story, and in typical internet fashion are on the defensive for their brand/dealership when all I'm reporting is poor customer service which could be improved if we didn't all make excuses for them. We'd all be better off.

Anyway, enough on the matter, the car is great!

A positive nod to Skoda insurance, fantastic phone manner and organisation. Price was great too. They couldn't do enough.

To be fair, 90% of the time Skoda UK can't give a straight or consistent answer on specs of cars compared to the brochure, so how their salesmen are supposed to know the answer is anyone's guess

I still maintain that it's a very naive buyer these days who goes into a dealership expecting the salesman to know absolutely everything about every model

Girlfriend has ordered a tech. She was given an okay p/x for her 2 year old diesel fab estate. Was quite shocked how much they depreciated but I suppose they're cheap from the outset. Went back to rainworth, they offered here 700 more than Doncaster (where she bought it).

Originally diesel was a good idea but now lack of miles is relevant and she wanted to change her car before warranty was up, plus usual wear and tear issues. She's been given a three week wait, which is nothing and got free mats (which I had to pay for.)

Also, the salesman knew that the Monte had sill protectors in.

Back to rainworth in future then purely for the distance saving and better service in this instance.
