Hi was phoned by the dealer earlier to be told that I would need to bring my drivers licence showing current address on the day I pick up my car. This is for the finance. Trouble is my licence has my old address. Anyone had the same problem, and if so what did you do? Some other form of proof of address?

Have you just moved? How long ago?

It's a hefty fine from the DVLA for not keeping licence and V5 details up to date

Nope I moved in 2007. Naughty me I know. Vehicle registration has the correct address as it was bought just after I moved.

Best check again with them.

The Dealer can accept other means of ID & current address, Utility Bills etc. Recent and better proof of Identity.

Bank or Building society Statements are often OK for Finance Identity & Address.

 

Even a Passport is not actually proof of address. But can be Proof of Identity.

You also need your licence to prove you are legal to drive, as they're liable if they gave you keys and you didn't have one. So you'll need to provide it.

2007 is too long ago to have forgotten to get it done. It may sound fraud alarm bells with Skoda finance.

You are a bundle of joy. I did just forget it. I have not needed the licence at any point.

There is a driving licence.

Many people have 2 addresses, week time and weekend, or 6 months someplace 6 months someplace else,

Winter Summer type thing.

You pick an address.

(pick one somebody lives at, because if you live alone, who do the police contact when you die in a road accident if the licence and the vehicle is registered at the address where you live alone.)

 

Finance looks at electoral roll, the finance is cleared, the Insurance is in place, then proving your ID by your licence is not a major issue.

You can not list both adresses if you have 2, or change twice a year..

 

It is still in date isnt it ?

Is it an Old style Paper Licence and no Photo Card?

Thanks. It is a photo card licence and is still in date. Will be speaking to the dealer in the morning. When he phoned me I was at work and honestly could not remember if I had got it updated 6 years ago or not.

Tell the dealer your licence is away at DVLA for the photo to be updated so you dont have it, and ask what else you could bring in? Worth a shot.

Hi I phoned the dealer. He will accept the licence for proof of ID and a bank statement hat is within three months old as proof of address. Worry over.
