1.2 TSI - Quite a surprise!

Featured Replies

So despite toying with a Yeti just over a month ago and opting to plough savings into keeping the Scout going (DMF + Turbo - Gulp), it's back at the garage with a shudder that's been there since the work was done and hasn't gone away.

Anyway that's my problem not yours; whilst they're looking at it I've been given a 1.2TSI Yeti as a courtesy car (are they trying to tell me something?).

The 1.2TSI is an awesome engine for the size of it. Plenty poke up to about 60 but find it a bit breathless after that.

Very, very impressive, but as an ownership proposition for me not strong enough pull from 50mph for rural A and B road overtaking. Would be ideal if you lived in the busy Englandshire and were always behind the car in front with the odd open road blast! Still makes me realise I'm kidding myself on when the subversive streak in me thinks a Panda 4x4 TwinAir would do as the next car, it'd be even more hard work for quick and safe overtakes on 'the only straight for 7 miles' type manoeuvres.

But the Yeti as a whole is very compelling as a work vehicle. Very much a home from home compared to the Scout (I knew I recognised that central console, etc) and for getting me round the country I don't need a big boot. But.........

........with a young family, a dog, Canoes, Kayaks and Bikes in the garage, it can't quite touch the Scout as an all round proposition for me when the weekend rolls round.

So I either roll my Scout into a new one in the next few years, or if we get mine in a place we're happy with put it out to grass and give it to SWMBO and try and get myself into a 170 4x4.................

Plenty time to make a decision (and no money left to bring the matter forward!) but maybe see you here some day!
