Interior Dash cleaner

Featured Replies

Have acquired some white marks on the dash and the door cards think its from the wifes hand cream or something similar. Can anyone recommend the best product to use on interior plastics.

Try ArmorAll Dashboard wipes, they come in two types Gloss or Matt finish. I use the Matt it is good and does keep the dash as matt as new.

I did use it once to remove the residue from an adhesive dash mount , it took a little soaking and genlte rub but completely cleaned. Might do your job as well, worth a try.

Available from Halfords, when I obtained mine they were the cheapest.

Damp a mf cloth with some apc and gently rub it.

As Alex said above then wipe over with Poorboys Natural Look Dressing. Gives a nice matt finish and smells great.

All Purpose Cleaner.

No chance I want something purpose made, if I wanted something generic I might as well use baby wipes! I have been stung using house hold products before they leave residue, silicone stains etc. some have harsh ionic surfactants in I once ruined a satnav screen with a general purpose multi-surface cleaner.

It needs to be Auto based and well recommended by a pro detailer before it sees any action in my cars. Im sure some people manage with APC's and find the results acceptable and also some may contain similar chemicals to what's in the car products which cost more but its a price im willing to pay after being stung before.

Thanks for suggestions though not being ungrateful. Poorboys I have heard mentioned else where so will have a look at this for after care once I have got the marks out.

I use an APC diluted 1:10 followed by a water based dressing, eg Valet Pro Protectant or Maxolen Blue Star, both cut 1:1.

I personally wouldn't use a dressing without cleaning first and wouldn't be sucked in to buying a dedicated dashboard cleaner when an APC is designed for that task. You'll find most pro retailers are using an APC of one sort or another on both interiors and exteriors.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong at all with using an APC

It doesn't need to be auto based either....works just as well and far far cheaper

However, as you clearly want to pay more for essentially the same product...Good luck

Like I said Im not made of money and not a brand snob either I was willing to try any thing until the Satnav screen fiasco but now Ill only use something that's recommended. My point is APC is a bit vague and I could make a **** up again so I just need a product name to avoid any mishaps.

Your choice

I'm certainly not a brand snob either...I dont know about your 'Satnav Screen fiasco'

( A link?)

However:

Sainsburys APC (59p for 500ml)

Meguiars All Purpose cleaner (£27 for 3.78 litres)

Essentially the same stuff..both have a similar dilution ratio

I'll be sticking to my Sainsburys APC....and dilute as required
