Superskoda LED kits, any experience?

Featured Replies

I just ordered a set of the LED trunk lights for my estate off of Superskoda. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Superskoda LED kits in general?

I'm also looking at the kits for the interior (dome light) and the mirror puddle lights, but the pricetags add up to quite a lot and I would like to know if there are any good before I spend the money. 39 euros for the trunk lights is still acceptable if they turn out to not live up to my expectations, but there's where I draw the line for blind spending. :)

Anyone?

I have them in the boot and interior lights, been in now for 18 months with no problems.

Do both kits have the same color temperature? If I like the color temperature the boot lights put out, I might go for the interior lights as well. :)

Do they dim in and out like the normal interior light bulbs do? In my experience, LED tends to not support dimming since they need very little current to light up fully.

How much light do you get compared to standard bulbs?

I have the LEDs both front and back.

They do dim in and out like the oem ones.

And they are the same temp as the ones in the trunk. I have them as well.

I find one problem with the reading light at the front. They do not turn complete off. And i find it annoying that i manualy need to turn i off at night when driving.

See the pictures. The one with no light in the middle is where the car is on and closed doors. Therefore it should be complete turned off. But no.

Despite that, I like them. They give mutch more and clearer light than the oem ones.

Sorry for my english.

I guess I'll skip the interior lights then. Thanks for your replies :)

I have the interior light set and all mine go off completely!

They do give quite a blue light but i think it looks fab.

Is it pre FL or a FL octavia you have?

I'm sure I read somewhere that if they don't go out completely you should turn them around. Although you'd have been unlucky to have put them all in the same way.

Its a pre FL Octavia

Okay. I will try to turn them around. ;)

Installed the trunk lights. The fit was 100% perfect and it looks stock until they light up, but the wires for the lights were way too short. There was no slack at all in the wiring on either side. The connector popped off when I took the old light out, and I had to take the trim piece off to plug the wire back in after installing the actual light.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I also didn't realize my car has Lamborghini parts in it. :D

Hiya,

While I had PS open helping out another Briskodian I thought I'd correct some of the colour cast in your pics.

Kind regards,

Excellent...

Thanks Bob, yes I was very lazy with those snaps !

That streetlighting messes up most night shots with most cameras.  :wall:

I'm curious about the internal Leds myself, do the leds look as blue as they do in the photos?

The trunk LEDs I bought look pretty much exactly like on the product photo on Superskoda. I know it's hard to wrap your head around how a light source looks judging by a photo, but I can't produce a more accurate photo than Superskoda already did.

I don't think I would want that kind of light *inside* my car. They're too blue (and unnecessarily bright!) for that. But in the trunk they're excellent, IMO. I'd imagine that a taxi driver would appreciate the brighter light more, since they're dealing with money and paperwork and customers and their belongings all the time. I don't, so I don't need it.

Ok Cool, thanks Perc. I'm gonna try some cheap one sided LEDs first, then if that doesn't cut the mustard I'll be thinking about one of those types of units. The Ebay equivalents look more tempting for price though.

In a word, yes!

it's a bit Marmite I suppose, but I love it!  previous owner fitted them, along with LED strip light's in the boot which also do an excellent job ;)

Yeh,I'm not so keen on the blue myself especially for interior lighting, but can see the appeal for cooler/sportier styled cars.
