2011 CR vRS - Stage 1 (Shark) on a rolling road day

Featured Replies

On Saturday morning JKM in Portsmouth kindly ran a rolling road day.

I had a Shark Stage 1 put on my CR back in March but I' never found out quite how well or not it's effected my car, other than how I thought it felt when driving. At this point I will point out I don't have a before snap shot but I do have an after to show you.

It seemed on the day quite a few peoples results were a bit down on what they thuoght they had but I must admit I was going in blind just thinking 200bhp or over & I'm happy. Needless to say I went away content, thanks to Shark for their lovely map.

The results made me smile & find below the Dyno sheet & all three runs were identicle. This was contrary to quite a few of the runners on the day.

I met a couple of the guys on here & it was nice to talk to like minded folk & see what people have been doing to their cars & what's on their to do list.

Shark does it again! And with great curves! :) Over 320lb/ft torque must make it pretty nippy. :)

Does it still have the dpf?

Phil,

Yes I still have the DPF. What prompted that question?

I understand this is quite an expence (£500) but gives you another similar jump in BHP that you get from the map. That said i've not really researched that option so this is me quoting a bit of chatter.

God that just makes me want to map mine now.....just don't want to torch my warranty.

BTW a DPF delete can add another 10 to 15hp and a bit more torque with an adjusted map but not huge gains without a fair bit more work (i.e a bigger turbo, intercooler and perhaps exhaust)

Each to their own with the warranty thing. I took a chance & so far so good. I can appreciate both side of the discussion on this topic.

Sounds like the DPF doesn't quite offer the same bang for your buck as the map then. I understand a new map is normally part of the cost but that said it seems a lot for a reletively small gain but I could be wrong as I've no first hand experience. I'm not planning on anything else anytime soon, what with the map, BT OEM  kit, ALK, RARB fitting in the last 6 months I'm taking a break. All mods i've done are well worth doing

Hi Mark

I just wondered how the DPF was holding up with a map.

I have considered mapping mine but I'm concerned that it would produce more smoke and kill the dpf more quickly.

Phil,

This is a funny thing to mention. When mine was on the rolling road a couple of on lookers asked if I was runnnig a petrol or deisel. The reason being it was not putting out any visable signs of soot at all. I saw some deisels chucking some black soot but mine was absolutely clean! 1 guy couldn't beleive how clean my pipes were :giggle: . I was going to post te video but the clip is quite big. If you like I can e-mail it to you - PM me if your interested in seeing it.

As for regens, no noticable increase in these either. Go for it

Oooppsss seems I got my I & E's around the wrong way on that last comment.

I'm not interested in re-mapping mine at the moment (too long still left on the warranty for me to be prepared to risk it), if I keep it after it's run out I could well be tempted by the 208bhp - a very useful increase!

It's great to see our cars making (and exceeding) quoted figures on other dynos. Smooth and powerful, perfect :)

Good results! Have you nothing else but stage 1 remap

Hi,

All I have is the Stage 1 map, I suppose the ALK might help put the power down more effectively but may only make a slight difference on a dyno. I've not altered anything esle - all standard engine/exhaust otherwise.

Considering a few runners on the day were getting less than they were expecting I actually felt I got a bit more than I was hoping for. I thought I'd be happy to see 200 or just under at worst.

def a good result, I know a lot will say otherwise, but its worth considering a good quality induction kit, it DOES help on a mapped 2.0 TDI, based on my experience of having had one myself and the Mrs having one.  But obviously you just wont get big gains,

I wouldn't bother with a DPF delete, i got less power with a delete..however the map isn't right on my car, smokes too much and overboosts with a limp mode   :wall:

Surely getting rid of the DPF would be better, purely to remove the potential £1-£2k cost of it going wrong

True but the CR's don't have a very clean idle, the smell of fumes around the car when idling is quite strong.

I find CR diesels without the DPF generally better than the PD, has your car been tuned now Micky?
